Downhill skating - 10:06 13 Nov 07 I'm seriously considering entering some downhill competitions next year. As Freeman found out though rules state that you have to wear full leathers and helmet

Does anyone know any more detail?

Does anyone have a cheap source for leathers and helmets?

Re:Downhill skating - 13:14 13 Nov 07 I have the gear from my motor cycle days but I'm not that mad to join you, maybe in a few years.

You'll often find cheap leathers and helmets at car boot sales etc, you can look at the leather and decide yourself if you think it's up to the job, remember you can also find leathers with spine protectors etc but unlikely that you'll see these at car boot sales.
Helmets are completely different, you should never buy second hand as it might look fine on the outside but if its old or taken a knock it could well be useless and you wont know until your riding in an ambulance. My advice is always buy helmets new and think about replacing them every three years or after any big knock.
On a bonus, as your not on a motor cycle you can avoid some legal requirements, darkened visor or a models like

Re:Downhill skating - 14:27 13 Nov 07 Blackbush market apparently do stuff. Or try infinity when they've got a sale on (motorcycle place in farnborough near the fire station).

I've got some old trousers which would prbably do you (waaaay too short for me), but I'd want dosh for 'em, 'cos they're like new.
