Outdoor Clinic - 11:38 24 Feb 10 We have a lot of new skaters who are worried about transcending to the outside world. We therefore have decided to hold an outside clinic the Tuesday after the Winter sessions end (Tuesday 6th April). We will cover things like different terrains, twigs, etc. We recommend the wearing of helmets, but if you choose not to wear one, then you do so at your own risk.

Suggestion is to skate at Eelmoor - see FAQ for map and directions, from 7pm on that date. For those who are unable to get to Eelmoor we will arrange for lifts to be given from Sandhurst Leisure Centre at 6.30pm.

So far 3 people have volunteered to act as "taxi" so we can accommodate 9 people who cannot make their own way to Eelmoor.

Can people please advise if they are interested to do the outdoor skate session, and if they will need a lift?

Interestred parties so far,

Red - can take 3 in a car
Vix - can take 3 in a car
Chris and his Dad - can take 3 in a car
Barry

Please reply to this thread if you are interested.

See you soon, Red

Re:Outdoor Clinic - 22:24 24 Feb 10 What a fantastic idea!!

I won't come as I'll just be the annoying brat that doesn't concentrate and goes off to do his own thing. Unless you need more taxi's in which case give me a shout

Wouldn't it be an idea to do it somewhere with more obstacles though? Just somewhere that you have drains and kerbs to try?
In Vauxhall for the roller disco. Impressive setup. Now it's time to get my groove on - Twitter Status

Re:Outdoor Clinic - 07:58 25 Feb 10 I was going to suggest a trip to Dorney with good weather to do some pacelining training for anyone who's interested as well. Again, I can offer lifts from my house which would save people about 30 miles' driving. ! Skate Monkey !

Good idea Red.

Don't forget that Eelmoor is on a slope, so for newbies to outdoors, they need to be able to control their speed. Watchmoor is more level but you do get the occasional traffic. Brooklands is further away, but you have the level there to start with, and can progress to minor slopes without traffic.

HaHa - You mean the 2012 Olympics development site!

Have you been there recently? It's unlikely you can skate more than one side!

Re:Outdoor Clinic - 12:46 25 Feb 10 What a brilliant Idea! Well done whoever came up with it

Remember Eelmoor has a rough patch which if I recall took me and Red about 6 circuits with Dogsbody before we would go over it
I\'ll NEVER post on the forums

Re:Outdoor Clinic - 17:35 25 Feb 10 What - they've duffed it up!? Oh no!

Rough patch at Eelmoor? It's ALL a bit rough, but I don't recall any particularly nasty bit.

Yup I agree to some degree, however with Eelmoor there is the little elevation to deal with, there's distance, corners and some rough patches, plus there's the normal foliage too to deal with. Also grass stops etc. so definiately a good start to the outdoors. If popular enough we can do more "in town" kinda stuff with blindman bobbles and the like.

The more the merrier and especially those already used to skating outdoors so that we can buddy-up. Alternatively we can go around as 2 - 3 groups.

Anyhoo, just my initial thoughts and I'n sure Barry has loads too.

See you'all there. LOL

Re:Outdoor Clinic - 07:56 26 Feb 10 I think you start with Eelmoor ('cos it's not onerous) and then go to Elvetham Heath once people are a bit more comfortable.. ! Skate Monkey !

Re:Outdoor Clinic - 00:26 28 Feb 10 Watchmoor park i think is good for an example of all kinds of terrain/kerbs/bobbly bits at crossing points...

Re:Outdoor Clinic - 17:55 28 Feb 10 There are sometimes problems with security at Watchmoor Park.

As Lemming suggested, Elvetham Heath is a good place too.
