Re:LFNS: Sheperds Bush - 10th Aug 2012 - 12:17 10 Aug 12
You may want to leave early as there is an event in Hyde Park today!!!
Here is your daily travel information update for tomorrow, Friday 10 August.
Men’s 10km Marathon Swimming is taking place in Hyde Park in the afternoon. Areas around Hyde Park are expected to be busy, particularly from 11:30‑15:30.
Basketball finals are taking place at North Greenwich Arena in the evening; the Jubilee line is expected to be busy to end of service with North Greenwich Tube station particularly affected.
3 days to go: There are only 3 more days before the Olympic Games finish on Sunday evening. Thank you for your support so far; this has helped us get spectators to events and keep London moving. We’ll be sending you the last daily Olympics email travel alert on Saturday.
Paralympic Games travel alerts: We will start sending you daily travel advice for the Paralympics on Wednesday 29 August. Whilst most of the Paralympic venues are in East London, there will still be an impact on London’s transport network, particularly when the schools go back. London has a lot to offer during the Games, so make the most of the theatres, restaurants, shops, free concerts and other attractions. Games venues for tomorrow If you have a ticket for an event at the Olympic Park and want to avoid delays at Stratford station please consider using:
West Ham Tube station on the Jubilee, District and Hammersmith & City lines, which is a short walk away and is clearly signposted Javelin service from St. Pancras International to Stratford International (Games Travelcards are valid) National Rail service from Liverpool Street (Games Travelcards are valid)
The following Games venues will be in operation tomorrow:
Earls Court ExCeL Hyde Park North Greenwich Arena Olympic Park Wembley Arena
Roads Where possible, please avoid driving into central London, on or around the Olympic Route Network (ORN) and near venues.
Drivers using the following routes should be prepared for congestion during the morning peak:
A2 – Back from the Kidbrooke Interchange A3 – Back from Tibbet’s Corner A4 – Chiswick Roundabout back to Gillette Corner A12 – Lee Interchange back to the Green Man Tunnel A13 – Canning Town to the Beckton Roundabout A40 – Hanger Lane back to Greenford Roundabout
The ORN remains in operation and is being enforced from 06:00 to 00:00. This also includes ‘Games Lanes’ for the use of athletes, officials and the world’s media to get them to their events on time. Games Lanes are being operated flexibly and being opened to regular traffic when they are less busy. As the end of the Olympic Games approaches, work to decommission the ORN has already begun. Roads will revert to normal in between the Olympic and Paralympic Games but some road markings will remain. Please continue to check Variable Message Signs along the route.
