Re:Asia - 21:51 16 Aug 07 OMG I just watched the Videos properly! I'm am shocked at how many people are there! Chez you did so well performing in front of that many people!

You also did so well and hardly knocked any cones which is awesome!

You'll be competing at Battle this year then
I\'ll NEVER post on the forums

Re:Asia - 19:14 19 Aug 07 Hey guys and gals,

This is probably my last post now! Thanks for everyone's positive comments. Shanghai was definately a HUGE challenge with the numer of people and amazing skaters, the temperature and the slippery floor....I took my run far more carefully than in practice having watched several 'better' skaters fall over in their runs. The worst thing as well was I had learnt some better stuff after I had put together my run but did not have time to start changing stuff about! Oh well....save it for next comp. Might be judging battle again this year so not sure Ill be competing again till next year now!

Anyway, after Shanghai and the crazy pillow fighting we headed back ti Korea with the Koreans for just 2 days. It was really difficult to say goodbye to everyone after having spent 2 wees with them. I'll definately miss anyone. You may have noticed one or two of them have actually signed up on cskate since I left Korea too so when I get back Ill see if I can get them involved in a welcome to the site post or something!

Arrived in Japan and met the new people we would be staying with. This time it was a really nice Australian guy who Naomi had met when she was out in Australia. He is an aggressive skater who has come out here to teach English. His housemate is actually a British guy also teaching English but haven't seen him since the night we arrived last week! We chilled out after travelling on the Weds afternoon but it has been non stop since. One of the things which made me realise I was in Japan.....when the taxi door shut itself after we climbed in! he he. Also there are vending machines EVERYWHERE!!!

Thursday we headed into Osaka for a bit of shopping and to get our bearings a bit. Then in the afternoon we met some freestyle slalpm skaters at a park. 2 people came to meet us at the station...a guy and a girl...although the girl definately used to be a male at some point so that was a bit unexpected. They took us to the freestyle area though and we skated for 6 hours with loads of other skaters. It was soooo much fun.

The following day Naomi and I headed into Kobe. This time we looked around the city briefly then met a whole bunch of other skaters for more slalom practice and socialising! The skate place here was definately my favourite for slalom. A beautiful space by the water front near the earthquake memorial in Meriken Park.

Saturday morning was an early start as we had to get the bullet train up to Tokyo! We were met by a lovely Japanese couple who were going to put us up for the weekend. They took us straight to a skate area to meet loads MORE skaters (many had travelled a long distance to see Naomi skate!). That night everyone came out for a traditional Japanese BBQ. This involved us having to try eating chicken cartilage, chicken heart and kidneys (must say it was not my favourite meal but the company was good and so was the beer). Sunday we did a street skate round part of Tokyo which was pretty cool then had luch with everyone in a cafe before some slalom practice. It was a bit too hot for me skating in the middle of the day though and the ground was rougher here so not as good for slalom. After we managed to do a quick bit of shopping for some souvenir type stuff - I wanted to get stuff for my classroom for when we have our Japan topic! Then we went up the Tokyo Tower to see the sights. Caugh the bullet train back this evening and off to bed now.

Tomorrow is our last day in Japan as our flight leaves very early Tues morning. Naomi will now stay extra days in Korea so when I change flights there to come home we will finally split Cuong (the Aussie guy we are staying with) has a day off work so has offered to take us to Kyoto to see stuff there which should be cool. No skating though tomorrow. Cant wait to see everyone and show you all the photos!

Oh ....one bit I forgot to say....before the street skate in Tokyo we were sitting under a tree and Naomi got lucky when a crow decided to poop on her back. That woke us both up when we fell into fits of giggles!

Re:Asia - 20:14 24 Aug 07 Hi everyone!! I'm actually back now but just thought I would finish writing about the last bit of Japan! I forgot to mention before all the strange attention we had been attracting all over the place. For example, when standing on the underground train, one old Japanese man did not take his eyes off us for the WHOLE entire journey from the minute he stepped on. I have never felt so uneasy! Then, one time, after we had got back from a day trip we were waiting at the front of the station for the Aussie guy we were staying with to come and collect us..when a Japanese man insists on buying both Naomi and myself a whole bowl of noodles from a guy who was selling them from a van (like the kebab vans we get over here I guess). We tried to get him to only get one for us to share after he wouldn't take no for an answer but he wouldn't even have that...it had to be one each!

The funniest incident had to be on our last day. We were on foot sightseeing in Kyoto, which was a lovely place full of old temples and shrines. At the end of our tour round the temple we decided to wander down a street of souvenir type shops (we being Naomi, me and aussie guy). Then I got tapped on the shoulder by some yound Japanese guys who then randomly indicated that they wanted their photo with me!! Slightly unnerved at being reprimanded in this manner I called out to the others who just continued to walk off in the other direction!! Thanks guys! So I let them take their stupid photo then scurried back to the others to tell them what had just happened. A few minutes later the Japanese guys had caught us up and overtaken us. Naomi and Cuong (aussie guy) could not then resist the opportunity! They both ran ahead, Cuong with the camera and Naomi with her arms spread wide. She flung them round this Japanese guy while Cuong took a photo! You should have seen the look of suprise on the poor lads face!! Hilarious!!

On the last night we went to a really nice restaurant for lots of traditional food (this time we get to order stuff we actually wanted!) Then we resisted the temptation to dive into one of the karaoke rooms!

Finally it was packing time (I dont think I have ever crammed so much into one case!!) Naomi and I flew together to Seoul and then had to split our seperate ways. I returned to London whilst she went to arrivals ready to meet back up with the Koreans for a little longer. The flight was etdious alone but I had no one in the seat next to me so it was great to be able to spread out Mum met me the other end to bring me home!

Now I cant wait for Naomi to get back so I can get all our photos off her laptop to post up! Watch this space!! Cheers everyone who has bothered to read all these posts by the way and make them actually worth writing! See you all very soon xx
