Roller Skate Suppliers - 14:29 12 May 07 We live in Swindon and miss the Roller Skating days of our youth at Dunstable leisure centre and Milton Keynes' Rollers. There are no facilities in Swindon for Roller Skating despite the fact it is a major hub city (with routes to cornwall, south Wales, London, and the midlands). So what are we gonna do about it? Well my husband and I have decided if they havn't go what you want, do it yourself, and so we are in the process of researching setting up our own Roller Skating Rink here in Swindon. However, whenever we try to research commercial quality rental skates and supply packages, which we would like to be able to supply to our visiting customers, there never seems to be any suppliers in the U.K.! Does anyone know of any suppliers?
We are looking for the clip system type skates that you usually rent when you go Ice Skating, but preferably in Quad format. If you know a supplier that puts your logo on too that would be a bonus!! If anyone has any info please let us know. Even if it is about a company that can supply other things too.

Thanks

Re:Roller Skate Suppliers - 16:52 12 May 07 Hi rollerrach, welcome to the site. I love that you heard about us from Skate Magazine UK

Nice work on working to set up a roller rink, I wish you all the luck setting it up.

As for skates to hire out. I believe that Camberley Arena use Stateside Skates as their hire out skates. They are cheap skates but certainly not plastic "Argos" skates, they have all the correct bits enough for servicing such as separate bearings. wheels, break-blocks etc. At the end of the day you probably don't want to hire out brand new £200 [insert top manufacturer here] skates anyway. I believe Stateside only sell to other companies and do good bulk discounts too.

Another option I suppose would be to ask skate shops directly who their distributors are (it's not like you are a threat as your probably not selling).

Max, I know you have dealt with distributors as part of your sponsorships? Any tips?
Can someone please tell me why a kettle goes quiet as the water boils!? - Twitter Status

Re:Roller Skate Suppliers - 18:57 12 May 07 HI Dogsbody,
thanks for the quick responce, and the luck wishing. Quite frankly i am scared out of my mind at the prospect but determind to get back on those quads. And what a perfect job, working for yourself and getting paid to skate!!
So far you're right Stateside do tend to be the cheapest though i didn't know that they offered bulk discount. That sounds promising i'll have to contact them directly rather then source out info on the web. Would still really like to know where the Ice Rinks get their supples from though. In theory the more basic the design the cheaper they should be.
As for trading we are looking at eventually opening an on-site shop so i do feel a bit cheeky about contacting others about their suppliers. Not that there really are any Roller Skate shops in Swindon, it's all street and board here, if you want quad you have to be -14 years old and go to the infamous highstreet catalogue shop or the giraffe's toy shop, not many of us could carry off wearing bob the builder and be taken seriously, and thats if we were lucky enough to have feet that small.
Thanks Again.
