Rollerblade RB 8 Platinum... with UFS frames?? - 09:13 11 Apr 08
I have seen the Rollerblade RB 8 Platinum's reviewed on a few sites and hadn't really noticed them much, with a 285mm frame and 90mm wheels they aren't what I'm looking for at all. That is until I read Davey Speedstar's blog post about them, they seem to have UFS frames!!
For those of you not aware the UFS (Universal Framing System) was invented by Salomon for the aggressive skates so that skaters could swap different frames onto the same boot. As time went on Salomon decided to use the same mounting system on their recreational and then Freestyle "FSK" boots.
I love my Salomon FSK's, and over the years have built up a nice collection of frames that I can put on my skates. There was always talk of Salomon trying to get other skate manufacturers to adopt UFS but to my knowledge (and I could be wrong) it never happened, now that Solomon are gone from the marketplace I was almost resigned to the fact I would have to chuck all my UFS frames when I bought new skates!!
I may be interested in getting some Rollerblade RB 8 Platinum purely for the boot now!
