Wheels that won't rotate (between skates) - 20:24 04 Jul 09 Well this is a new one!!!!

Last month I put on some brand new wheels and bearings, wow, what a difference it made! I think it was more the new bearings than the new wheels.

Anyway, It's now a month later and time to rotate them between boots. However... If I now put pretty much any of the wheels in any other position on the boot they won't turn!! As in seriously start rubbing and the only way to make them turn is to have the axle so loose it rattles!!

I have never seen this before and have now put all eight wheels back in the position they were in and all wheels now spin for over a minute again! In Vauxhall for the roller disco. Impressive setup. Now it's time to get my groove on

My only recommendations, which you have probably done would be:-

1. Check for dirt on the bearings and spacers where they contact.
2. Check for dirt on the outside of the bearings and the inside of the frame.
2. Check there is no grit between the bearings and the wheel cores.
3. Tap the bearings into the wheels with a small hammer round the outside of the bearing (or a tubular drift or bearing press).

Peter may have a point with the spacer length. I have found some which are a bit under size. I think they should measure 0.4". Check them with a micrometer against a new Salomon spacer.
