Re:Cheeeeeeeeeeeap Skates, any good? - 10:27 10 Oct 05 They're here! The right skate is a little snug but they'll be okay to learn the basics with. They've been worn more than the 3 or 4 times the listing claimed but they're not knackered by any means. Je suis belle et ça ne demande aucun effort

Re:Cheeeeeeeeeeeap Skates, any good? - 13:15 07 Dec 05 Hi all,

hope yr sk8s are fine fran..
fyi - there are three main types of skates:
Aggressive
Hockey
Recreational
and they are classed as inline or quad (no aggressive quad)

If you are not planning on street skating (using ramps, grinding and other crazy skate stuff) then aggressive are not good for you.

Hockey is for Hockey BUT they provide some of the lightest, best technolgy for skating indoors and
once worn in or skate baked
thermo moulded - like ski boots) are the most comfortable.

Recreational skates are probably the best to learn on as they have a brake (which gives the skater confidence), they fit comfy immediately (or they should) and have a indoor/outdoor wheel fitted.

Quads - they provide good stability early on but are much heavier than most skates (excluding aggressive). If you are doing or going to do lots of skating then inlines maybe a better option as it is much more effort on quads than inlines & the accessories and technology is now greater. If you skate in small halls quads can be better as they are faster in the first few strides. Artistic dancers prefer quads.

Wheels can be changed to different softnesses so they can be used indoors/outside or both.

Re:Cheeeeeeeeeeeap Skates, any good? - 13:39 07 Dec 05 Frannybee those skates are a really good pair to learn with.
You can improve the fit with a bit of heat moulding (using your hair dryer if you are careful)

No message, I've just got a cold. *cough*

I'll have a play with the hairdryer after the Cardiff skate this weekend, see if I can sort any problems I might identify. Cheers, Ruff.

Thanks for your post, Xtreme Sporter.
