Odity - 14:29 10 Jan 06 I use Firefox at home and it's far superior to anything elSe I've uSed....

... however, when I click on the "Forums" link it doesn't seem to update the forums that I've read and not read. I can look at all the forums at work, get home and logon and find everything marked as 'unread'

Has anyone else come accross this?

Re:Odity - 15:07 10 Jan 06 When you logon and start reading the forums it obviously keeps track of which you have read and which you haven't. If you don't read all of them and leave it (for more than half an hour I think) while your coming home the forum assumes that you have read everything you want to read and so resets all the threads to show you have read them all.

If you log back on straight away it will look like everything has been read but if you leave it for a bit and more people post then you should see these new posts that appeared after you left flag up as new.

This is not unusual, most forums do it, including SR (as I found out when I got back from holiday, stopped reading the forum to unpack and came back to find everything marked as read).

I hope this make sense and i hope this is what your talking about!!??

Re:Odity - 16:15 10 Jan 06 quite right....
however, this is doing the opposite - it's showing posts that I HAVE read as unread.

Re:Odity - 17:20 10 Jan 06 Ahh, strange! Do you have Remember Me set for both?? Not that it's a problem just trying to work it out. Embedding gravatar.com icons in the Goodwood Roller Marathon site to give each racer a unique avatar that they can change if they want. - Twitter Status

Re:Odity - 21:59 10 Jan 06 OK, next time it happens can you check that the page has fully loaded, that is, that the rotaty thingy (technical!) in the top right has stopped going round and everything. Sometimes it actually stops a few seconds after it looks like the page has finished.

What your describing somtimes happens to me but leave it a few seconds and it's like a CCS updates and the red "NEW" change to grey.

Are you on Broadband or dial up?

Re:Odity - 09:24 11 Jan 06 What do you take me for Dogsbody?

The page definately finishes loading, I then re-load it.
I'm on broadband of course (what's dialup )

I haven't really analysed what is happening - I just asked before I'd spent any time thinking about it, just in case you had come accross this before.

It doesn't set everything to unread all the time, just some items that I know I've read whilst logged on. I haven't looked to see if it goes back to a specific date or anything and I haven't looked for any other paterns. I haven't yet tried emptying the casche, nor have I tried to re-install the software.

If you have any thoughts, let me know but don't spend any time thinking about it, it's not a big problem. If it starts to irritate me, I might do something about it - lol

Re:Odity - 10:02 11 Jan 06 Well the nearest I have seen to this is when i visit the forum page sometimes it (seemingly randomly) shows some of the posts as NEW however waiting two seconds and it updates and turns greay again.

Oh and I only meantion broadband as mine has just been upgraded to 10Meg
