Le Mans 24 Hour Signup - 13:53 13 Mar 05 OK, It's time! I am going to have to register our team next week if we want to do this which is going to cost me 400 Euro's. So, if you have spoken to me before about this or not I need to make a list of people that are up for this.

If you want to do this I need your details as well as 30 pounds which is non refundable, that way if lots of people pull out I'm not left with a big bill I am planning on splitting all general costs equally and there will be more as we will need to get T-shirts made up (this is in the rules that we must all have the same T-shirts) and any remainder of the entrance fees will be split. We will also have to sort out food travel and accomodation which will obviously cost people differently but I don't want to go into this discussion now as there will be shared tents & cars etc.

Those under 16 will have to come with (or partner up with) a gardian. We are also looking for pit crew who don't have to be skaters so if any non skating partners or gardians are interested??

Lastly this is supposed to be fun so please don't worry if your not a good skater. There are literally people that do Le Mans that have never worn skates before... although not recommended

I thought I would start a new thread with this post so if you want general info on Le Mans and what is involved please see HERE.

I think that this is only a go if we have at least 6 people although I would prefer more! Oh and while I have to register the team next week I don't need to specify the team members so if you do pull out but can find a replacement for yourself then it won't cost you anything.

Any more questions please see me.

Re:Le Mans 24 Hour Signup - 23:55 13 Mar 05 Hi Dan, there isn't quite the rush you think, apparently the 15th is the first day for registering a team, not the final day.

Oh, and i'm a definite unless i injure myself before!!
what's the team name?

Re:Le Mans 24 Hour Signup - 00:03 14 Mar 05 Your right but there are only a fixed number of teams allowed to register and apparently team spaces can fill up quite quickly. With Le Mans getting more and more popular I don't want to leave it too long just in case

Unless anyone can think of anything really good I was gonna just register us as "Camberley Skaters"..... I suppose we could be the Camberley Crusaders!

Re:Le Mans 24 Hour Signup - 10:54 14 Mar 05 Count me in for the 24 hour sk8 at Le Mans! If we're low on team members we might be able to persuade some of the South Wales Skaters to join us. I'll give Wot The Devil a bell and see what he's up to. Jagshemash!

Re:Le Mans 24 Hour Signup - 23:43 20 Mar 05 Hi All,

The entrance fee has gone up to 400 euro's and so I new need 30 pounds from all of you ASAP (post above edited for clarity).

Definates are...
Dan (Dogsbody)
Martin (Drakey)
Dan (Dan Solo)

Lemming: Are you in? You know you want to

Dan Solo: Have you managed to talk to the Cardiff folks? (Dan is going to see if we can get some folks from Cardiff to join us, it looks like they may have half a teem too.)

FYI - I *really* would like to know by Tuesday (we can sort money out later) as a load of teams from London will be submitting their money on Wednesday and if we can submit at the same time then we may get pits with english people

Also if *anyone* else wants to come along then please let me know ASAP.

Re:Le Mans 24 Hour Signup - 23:03 22 Mar 05 Have a wierdish request; I have already pledged to go with the London Speed team IF I go... (made plans before I found out about the forum... Sorry). Currently the only thing holding me back form giving a definite yes or no is getting to the event for a reasonable cost. How are you guys getting there, hiring a minibus, own a minibus, driving a normal car (presuming someone has experience of driving with nutty French drivers, or will you be going for the Eurostar train option.

Re:Le Mans 24 Hour Signup - 23:41 22 Mar 05 I will be driving and going via ferry. It looks like the best boat is Portsmouth to St. Malo as it's only a 2 hour (ish) drive the other side as opposed to a 5 hour (ish) drive going to Cherbourg. Although I think the St. Malo is an overnight ferry!? Prices are about £200 (ish) for a return ticket but it doesn't change much on the number of people in the car... four people = £50 (ish) pounds each . More details at http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/

There is also the train, in particular the Eurostar and the TGV, I have heard that changing to the TGV at Lille is better than changing in Paris (unless you want to do the Paris Roller which some people do on the way down). Price is around £120 (ish) to go by train. Can't book trains until at least 3 months to return travel.

The last two years The Times have been doing a special offer that meant you could get the train to Le Mans for about £75 and there are always special offers in the papers for ferry prices nearer the summer time. I say we all keep an eye out.

I hope that helped! Not that I have been doing research or anything!
