Re:Expensive Skates - 00:12 06 Mar 06
Do more expensive brand skates actually makes a difference? The million dollar question! My own opinion. I think there is a stage where they help. If you are a real beginner then as long as you haven't got plastic skates from argos then then skate doesn't really matter. Alternatively, no matter what skating you are into if you are very good at it then a lot of it is technique and doesn't matter what skates your wearing. I think the great thing about skates is that you can pick and choose what is right for you, the boot, frame, bearings, wheels so when you are in that middle area between being new and expert you can start picking what is good for you. Again, my view, the model of skate makes a difference but not the year. For example a Salomon Crossmax is better than a Deemax but a 2006 Crossmax is not necessarily better than a 2005 Crossmax.
And if so can anybody recommend a pair for me to save up for (feestlye skates, not agressive quads hockey etc) something not completely beginner or pro like in between? For a Freestyle skate then it has to be Salomon FSK's (Crossmax) but as my comment above you don't have to get the latest at all, last years S-labs are in the sale now and identicle to this years S-labs but at half the price.
