Re:Decathlon wheels - 12:02 13 Jun 06 I started in rec skates and now I only wear FSK (XMax3 / 3V) or my speed boots.

All the above is true and the FSK is a more versatile setup than most. Having said that, a good recreational boot would be just as good for most things.

I'd say this - if you're only ever going to do street skating / park skating and races - that sort of thing - just no nonsense skating, then stick with a rec boot.

If you want to start doing things like slalom / ramps or jumping and so on, get an FSK (or equivalent as suggested by Ed!)

But above all, make sure they fit and are comfortable.

Re:Decathlon wheels - 21:18 13 Jun 06 Well, in the end I bought some decathlon wheels. Hopefully will be able to buy some FSKs someday soon, so the decathlons should tie me over til that beautiful day comes.

Couldn't resist trying them - and my new bearings - out, even though it was raining. the ground was too wet to come to a view on them though. At least the wheels are round (unlike my old ones which had chunks missing) and the bearings don't howl (yet).

Re:Decathlon wheels - 16:46 14 Jun 06 Decathlon wheels, i must admit i used them last year at Le Mans and had no complaints, they even lasted most of the summers streetskates too!

so you've guessed it, i have bought the same set again for this year, bargain, i'll be swapping them over from my Hyper 250's when we get there, i agree the hyper's are hard wearing, but you lose the absorbtion and smoother ride i find i get with the FSK wheels, dunno why, but that's how i find it.

Yep save your pennys and get FSK's they should cope with most things!

Re:Decathlon wheels - 22:52 04 Jul 06 update:

didn't think much of the Decathlon wheels! they have been totally destroyed in 3 weeks.

Nothing to do with powersliding
