Re:why - 10:21 14 Jun 06 I'd always say that wrist gaurds are the most important pads to wear, i have seen many broken wrists in skating...

I myself dont wear any pads, but i am stupid, and when i wear pads, i try even stupider things!!
just dont hit the cones!

you should only fall forwards. Dan, I think at the time of my accident, I was probably turning very sharply, and so went over sideways.

At the end of the day, accidents always happen no matter how experienced you are and you can either go fully padded up or only wear some protection and take the risk. This really sums it up Dan.

Whats the point of wrist guards? Now see what you've started Laura. But it is a topic which does require serious consideration, and it's good to see it aired on Cskate.

Re:why - 12:04 14 Jun 06 LOL I did have a pair bought for me as a christmas present years ago and they had a plastic bit on them- I was stupid enough at 11 to think it was to protect my veins i.e the plastic would stop the tarmac ripping my veins open As I big girl I can see that the plastic would help you slide.

They were a big size, I wonder if my Mum managed to bin them or I could fish them out from our garage.

In Argos they have a set for a about £14 knees, wrist etc

You can get some very nice gel filled ones at just a bit more money from a proper skate shop. Check out the Skate Shop links in the Web Links

Re:why - 20:43 14 Jun 06 Apart from them getting in the way of holding a stick and flicking in wrists shots, there is so much padding that it doesn't matter how you fall so wrist guards are nugatory. Falls tend to either be with a bit of a dive or down only onto one knee.

Re:why - 07:07 15 Jun 06 That's true for hockey - I agree if you're all kitted up for hockey with pads and so on, you don't want to be wearing wrist guards under your proper pads. That would just be crazy. ! Skate Monkey !
