sport socks - 17:50 17 Jul 06 not sure if this is skate equipment.. but does anyone know where you can get some good sports socks round ere??

I kno the anser is probably: ooh, a sports shop !
but the high st one i went in only seem to sell the little ones that are meant for wearing with trainers and stop below the the ankle, i.e. no good for preventing ankle rubb-age!

Re:sport socks - 17:54 17 Jul 06 Typically "sports socks" are very thick and not good for skating. I know Lemming wears something special with his skates sometimes. I just like the (very) cheap cotton socks from Sainsburys myself! They are thin and cotton so they don't itch when they get sweaty. Re:sport socks - 18:51 17 Jul 06 I've got a three pair pack from M&S they are black with different coloured heels and toes. They are also cotton and don't itch. I think they were a fiver for the 3 pairs. They are also a good length i.e. just above the skates.

I used to wear thick socks but they rubbed a lot. Thinner ones seem better to me.

Hope this helps.

Re:sport socks - 20:33 17 Jul 06 I agree with everyone here..normal socks are the way to go I've never worn anything else and have never had any problems with rubs or anything I\'ll NEVER post on the forums

Re:sport socks - 08:02 18 Jul 06 Cheers guys, I will try M&S/supermarkets.. Its too hot for thicker ones right now, but my feet rubbed while I was practising for Goodwood last week.
Plasters next time me thinks...

Re:sport socks - 08:25 18 Jul 06 you can get dedicated skate socks, and you can also get anti-blister/anti-rub socks.

Skate socks, obviously would have to be a skate shop.
anti-blister, places like Blacks or Snow & Rock sell them. they tend to be quite thick though.

Re:sport socks - 08:39 18 Jul 06 Well i've always worn thicker socks and never had a problem with rubbing or blisters despite having done numerous street skates, 2 le Mans, and 2 Goodwoods, i guess my feet are just tough, oh and of course skating all day at Eastbourne!!

if you want dedicated skate socks, try Decathlon, they do loads of sports socks of various lengths and cheapish too.

Re:sport socks - 09:04 18 Jul 06 For blisters I highly recommend Compeed From now on I am ROT26 encoding all my messages for added security - Twitter Status

Re:sport socks - 09:29 18 Jul 06 For my 'normal' skates, I just use any socks that I have to hand. These range from work socks to Nike sports socks my sister bought me for my birthday.

For my "speed" boots, I find that only a specifc type of sock works - the 3 pairs for £2 ankle socks from my local sports shop

Any cotton socks should be fine, especially those cheap "5 pairs" bundles - unless you're getting specific rubbing.
If so, then try either:
- two pairs of sock, thinner inner one, slightly thicker outer one
- compeed over the specific area
- anti-blister socks (same as lemming - I use these for my speed boots)

What skates do you have - not Salomon FSKs?
