A question for those of you that have an opinion on the matter

Re:New or Cleaned Bearings - 17:54 26 May 05 Don't know - I clean mine rather than buy new ones though. It's quite therapeutic actually.

Once they've been cleaned, etc, they're really nice though.

Re:New or Cleaned Bearings - 22:57 26 May 05 I must admit I am a "Bones Reds" person and love them. I was going to get up a brand new set of wheels (biggest diameter) with some brand new bearings for Le Man so that I have no excuses

PS: Apologies for lack of recent posts. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible! No worries Dan, just don't let it happen again

Re:New or Cleaned Bearings - 11:41 27 May 05 You mean I have to do things to my bearings - I thought you just bought new skates when the wheels got worn out..... is that not right?

Re:New or Cleaned Bearings - 13:23 27 May 05 My favourite specialist subject! IMO the optimum bearings are used ones that have been cleaned and PROPERLY lubricated. The lubrication should be with a light race oil; for speed, or a speed grease like Sonic gel for everyday use. I generally wear in my new ILQ9s (about 100miles worth of skating) and then clean them and lubricate with GT85 or TK- racing gel...

I just realised I am now a skating anorak… arrgh
