Flyers in papers - 20:45 25 Sep 06 Mitchell wrote:
I might be able to get my mate to put flyers in his papers on his paper round... its 4 streets in Mytchett
OK, Mitchell has checked with is friend who is fine with this and will cover around 100 houses. I on the other hand have reservations! I hate recieving junk mail (almost as much by post as e-mail) and we wouldn't be following the Mailing Preference Service!!??

Can I put this to the vote please? Please post if you have a view.

Re:Flyers in papers - 09:30 26 Sep 06 Is this a cost effect means of advertising? I might be in the minority, though I doubt it, but who actually reads the flyers that come through their door?

Also, would the flyers be reaching the intended target(s)?

Re:Flyers in papers - 10:05 26 Sep 06 Cost is the key really!

burgess, most of your ideas cost money which I'm afraid we just don't have

Bagpuss, This would cost us nothing but I agree that it wouldn't be reaching the intended targets.

Re:Flyers in papers - 11:13 26 Sep 06 Burgess has come up with a couple of good ones though which should be free i.e. Local Radio, 'What's On' pages on the Web. Bit old fashioned now but there is also Teletext.

I've chucked an outline of Sk8 Jam on both the Cardiff and Thornbury sites. Don't know if it will generate any interest but it spreads the word.

Re:Flyers in papers - 11:23 26 Sep 06 Your absolutely right but these are only really any good for actual events... and we do do them. The council is doing LOADS of flyers to all othe local schools for sk8Jam as well as other sexy marketing, we did our best with Goodwood this year and now that we know a bit more what we are doing hope to make a much bigger push with radio and TV next year. We can only do what we have the time to do in our spare time unfortunately. As it is I have taken nearly all my holiday this year to organise skate events

I saw that you had posted them up on Cardiff and Thornbury sites, thank you. As I have said before, if anyone sees an opportunity to market cskate or an event then they should take the initiative themselves, if they are not sure then ask back here on the forums and we can discuss the direction to go... in fact, that is exactly what I was doing here

So, back on topic, to flyer, or not to flyer.
