Another Bearings Thread - 15:01 30 Dec 06 Will the bearings called 'ABEC 9 Waterproof Bearings ( SET OF 16 )' for £20.00 on Proline fit 3Vs? I know absolutely nothing about bearings

Re:Another Bearings Thread - 21:23 01 Jan 07 Ys they'll fit, but what do you want them for? You might be better going for something else. ! Skate Monkey !

Re:Another Bearings Thread - 21:35 01 Jan 07 I've got new wheels so I'm using my current wheels for streetskates and my new wheels for indoor stuff but I can't be bothered to continually swap the bearings over, so I'm getting another set for these wheels. I should have ordered them with them but I didn't really think about it

Re:Another Bearings Thread - 10:36 02 Jan 07 From what I have read about these things, although the 'waterproof' bearings will offer some resistance to water ingress, they will also not be very 'free rolling'. The friction factor is apparently higher.

I think you have the Salomon skate, which would probably have been fitted originally with ILQ9 Twincam bearings, designed for skating. These are sold by skating maestro Eddie Matzger http://www.ilq9.com/moreinfo.html and are a good all round bearing, but of course do not have the full water sealing. These are sold as the Classic. There is also the Pro which has better moisture and contamination protection.

If you want them specifically for water resistance, then go for the 'waterproof' bearings, but do not expect them to be friction free or completely waterproof.

If you want similar bearings to the ones you have, then consider the ILQ9 Classic. You can get them for around US $48 for 20 bearings including gel and worldwide delivery. I think that would be about £25. Club Blue Room also sell these, but at a higher price.

Re:Another Bearings Thread - 11:49 02 Jan 07 For what it's worth - Bones Redz - Cheaper and you can get them from a UK company instead of importing but that's just my humble opinion. Bearings are a very religious thing! After my car accident (not my fault) it's now cheaper for me to cancel my car insurance early and take out another year with someone else! - Twitter Status

Re:Another Bearings Thread - 19:22 04 Jan 07 The Bones are bearings with a good reputation. And they are designed for skating, as are the ILQ9's, rather than being designed to meet an engineering specification.
