Skate for Unicef - 23:45 07 Jun 05 Hi all,

I am doing this for UNICEF anyone want to join me and Farhana on Saturday. Here is what we need to do:
---------------------------------------
Just skate (alone or drafting/relaying with some friends) one hour during the 24 hours starting at 08:00 UTC (=05:00 New York time, 09:00 London time, 12:00 East African Time, 13:00 Moscow time), on the coming Saturday 11th of June. Please tell me before that and when you will do so and afterwards how many kilometers you skated. That's all. Easy, isn't?

And here is why:
By doing so you can help to make the result of this worldwide 24 hours race supporting UNICEF to become a new world record (we need 10 time zones participating, currently we have 8). We have several world champions as patrons for this event (see http://www.24skate.net/patronsHome_e.htm).
Skaters from Australia, Brasil, Singapore, Belgium, Austria, Malaysia, Japan and more countries around the world are hoping for you support.

Thanks for any reply, no matter if yes ), may be :-|, or no

Sorry.

This is great. How much info do you need?? From now on I'm going to express all IP addresses in 192.0xa8.0020.235 form just to be awkward. - Twitter Status

Re:Skate for Unicef - 00:22 09 Jun 05 This is great we can use the camberley arena session but we really need to get some outside skate shots for the 24 hr skate website. It has to be for an hour with how ever many people we want.

What time do you fancy doing this and how many people want to have a go. I will mail the organiser with numbers etc by the end of the day tomorrow.

Re:Skate for Unicef - 12:42 09 Jun 05 Well pretty much everyone at the Arena will be constantly skating for at least an hour. Anyone want to make a stab at how many people come to the morning sessions?? I *think* I remember mick saying that one week they had 160 people paid at the door and that was a pretty normal week.

So I guess you can tell the organisers at least 100 people between 9:00 and 11:00. I'll see if i can get some photo's and make sure I get some outside although I don't have a digital camera so you will have to wait until i get them developed

However taking Pics is not my speciality so someone else can do that!

Re:Skate for Unicef - 23:29 09 Jun 05 Dogsbody, i have to be in London on Saturday morning (business) and will skate there in the afternoon. Do you want to coordinate camberley? This is what you need.

1. Gather the team - can be as few as 1 and as many as you want.
2. There has to be at least one person skating at all times during the hour
3. Estimate of how far you have skated
4. How many people took part
5. Ask if they want to be acknowledged on the http://www.24skate.net website.

Thats it

Re:Skate for Unicef - 23:23 11 Jun 05 1. Gather the team - can be as few as 1 and as many as you want.Pretty much everyone I talked to although couldn't talk to them all
2. There has to be at least one person skating at all times during the hourOh, there was!
3. Estimate of how far you have skatedThis was tough, looking at the Unicef site then we cannot count multiple people skating at the same time and I have given up trying to work out the average circumference of the hall so... 1 person skating constantly for one hour at 5mph average equals (at a guess)... 5 miles!?
4. How many people took partUnfortunately the Arena wasn't very busy today, I don't know why! I tried to get an accurate number from the door but they said that it was 34 people!! RUBBISH We guessed at 80 odd. Does everyone else agree??
5. Ask if they want to be acknowledged on the http://www.24skate.net website.Too many people to ask but I have some photos thanks to Merry's camera which I will just check to make sure that kids faces are obscured and post up in the gallery.

I hope this info is OK!?

Re:Skate for Unicef - 23:46 11 Jun 05 5 photos now uploaded to my album in the gallery. I figure that there is so much motion blur on them that unless you know who the kid is you can't recognise them. Please let me know if anyone disagrees.
