I hadn't decided yet although your the first to say that they shouldn't be that much longer, other people that have voiced opinions were implying double what we did last year (3 hours on 6 hours off) which is what I was going to look at. Do people think this is too much?? It gives you more of a sleep but also a longer shift!

well, last year was the 3rd time i had done le mans and i felt that it was the best shift system that i had done yet. But, i am just as happy to go with the majority!! At the end of the day, its all for fun!

I'm so excited!!!
just dont hit the cones!

Re:Le Mans 2007 - Details - 23:09 19 Jun 07 Oh cool, thank you, I got the impression you preferred the rota system you did the year before. I quite like stepped shifts as it means you race with more people.

I shall have a look at the numbers

Re:Le Mans 2007 - Details - 12:15 20 Jun 07 Hello everyone, sorry I've been away for a long time but I'm back now.
I think I'd prefer the shorter shifts myself. Although I'm sure I know how the race/shifts work - is it just one person on the track at once and you swap between others on your shift every lap?

Although I'm sure I know how the race/shifts work - is it just one person on the track at once and you swap between others on your shift every lap?Sorry, I should explain. OK, we have 9 racers in our team this year. When the race starts we will all be at the track watching the start I'm sure. The person that starts the race has to do two laps. I then aim for each person to do one lap each.

After that there should always be three people track side and six people at the campsite resting/eating. Last year, every 30 mins one person would go to the track and one person would come back to the campsite. For the people track side there would be one person going around the track, one person ready to receive the baton and one person resting with the stopwatch and notepad. We have two timing chips for our team so after a baton is swapped the person coming in hands the chip to the person resting who gets ready to receive the baton next.

We'll have a briefing on the Friday night after camp is set up to cover this, it's a shame we won't have a chance to practice baton transfers.

So I was thinking of making the shifts this year 40 mins to make it two hours on and four hours off?? Remember you only tend to get to do three laps in a hour and half shift last year.

ahhhh ok, i am sorry, for some reason i thought when you were going to make the shifts longer, i thought we'd be doing it in blocks 3 on 3 off type thing. the 40 mins idea seems good to me! sorry for being a ditz!
