Re:Double Push - 14:15 26 Jun 07
I think it maybe something like: after doing your recovery the plant skate is placed down in front of you on its outside edge. The plant foot, on outside edge, is pushed (1st) across the body (if the plant foot is the right foot then it would be towards the left) continuing across until a point just before gravity takes over and you fall. Then by steering ( ) the plant skate back across the body (towards the right) you transfer on to its inside edge and push (2nd) outwards as a normal stride. The kickback in the motion of the recovery must aid the 1st push through weight transfer Seems a lot of outside edge is required for the first push. Perhaps some Elastoplasters too.
That's not a bad description. The butter analogy isn't bad either.
However...
I don't think the kickback part of the recovery is required for the push. I think this was the main thing moaned about about that online tutorial. Not convinced about a set down on the inside edge either, although my eddy matzger vid shows him setting down right on the inside edge. The trouble with this is that you will tend to lose your nose, knees, toes line, which should be a starting point for any decent stride.
I've found one of the vids but it's 20 Meg - Ideas how to host please?
