Re:Asia - 14:48 07 Aug 07
OK....we are one week into our trip now and this is our final night in Korea! We fly to China tomorrow morning. Sooooooo excited!
After we had been in Seoul we travelled back to Incheon (loaded up with many little presents given to us by the skaters we had met!). We skated with several skaters before Da Jin took us back to his family apartment to stay for one night. His parents were very friendly and welcoming and showed a great interest in his skating. He also had a really cute little dog which was just a tiny bundle of excitable white fluff!! It kept jumping on the spot on its hind legs!!
The next day Da Jin and his friend took Naomi and I shopping and my god what an experience. At just 15 years old they are already such gentlemen! They were happy to follow us round any shop we wanted, gave us opinions on which things looked better than others and when we bought stuff...they even carried our shopping! I wish British men would take a few tips
Anyway...I have actually drafted a run now which...if I get enough time to practice...I might actually use for the competition. I am planning to possibly use the music '1,2 step' by Ciara for any of you who are familiar with it?! I have also taken to writing a few moves down with sketches on paper so I do not competely forget everything I have observed/been shown so far! I am having to choose between practicing and learning new moves or working on a competition routine at the moment! It's a tough decision!!
Had a dry day weather wise yesterday to skate but it was wet again most of the day today. We went to see a few sights in Incheon, I also bought some new plastic cones as they seem to be preferable to my rubbery ones (they are cheaper out here!) - although Da Jin had actually given me his OWN set of cones as a present!!! I was so excited!! (secretly hoping they will allow me to skate like him?!!! )
Other random things which have suprised me...how much noise locusts make in the trees!!! It is like nothing I have ever heard before! Also....the subway/underground network is incredibly clean, the carriages are much larger and less cramped, but also...they are air conditioned. So travelling about is far better than in London!
Anyway...better go and pack for Shanghai now and find my passport again! If I don't get a chance to write in Shanghai (I have a feeling there will be lots of late nights out and as we are not staying in someones house I doubt internet access will be as easy!) I will post up all about the competition when we get back to Korea on Monday/Tuesday!!
Take care everyone! Miss you all xxx
PS...I am slowly picking up a few Korean phrases! Woohoo!
