Re:Le Mans 2008 - 28 & 29th June 2008 - 23:06 10 Oct 07 Well, I'm happy to put a deposit down towards the team booking.

Is there a list anywhere of things that need to be organised for Le Mans? Apart from the team(s) booking, I can think of:

Booking the campsite (is that done with the team booking?)
The questionnaire (would be good to do this again)
The ferry and driving arrangements
Group travel insurance
Food
All the shared camping stuff (cooking things etc)
The hotel/campsite for Sunday night?
Teeshirts
Race rotas

What did I forget?

I guess the main thing first is the team(s) & campsite booking since we wouldn't want to miss out if the event got fully booked.

Re:Le Mans 2008 - 28 & 29th June 2008 - 09:33 11 Oct 07 Is there a list anywhere of things that need to be organised for Le Mans? Not really, it's also up to the organiser(s) how they want to do it. You could ask everyone to make their own way there and not worry about transport. I tend to think that we'll all end up paying twice as much if that happens but it can be organised any number of ways.

Booking the campsite (is that done with the team booking?)You can't book the campsite, it is why we get there so early on the Friday to get a good pitch for the whole team. I think some people were thinking of coming down on the Saturday which is fine however we can't all do that unless we want to all sleep in seperate areas of the campsite. Although it would be away from Reds snoring!

The questionnaire (would be good to do this again)I can send this to whoever wants it

The ferry and driving arrangementsRemember Red has a discount card for Brittany Ferries which is why it's invariably cheaper to do with them. We have always done Portsmouth to Caen, Cherbourg is another option although you then have a much longer drive in France.

Group travel insuranceUse and affiliate Go Travel Insurance has always been the cheapest so far.

The hotel/campsite for Sunday night? The hotel we have been to the last three times is HERE, you can only book two rooms at a time and ignore the breakfast option

TeeshirtsTalk to Merry and Red about these

Race rotasI have the ones from previous years if that helps (depends on the number of people and timings needed)

What did I forget?I think you have it all! A few little things that perhaps should come out the kitty if there is one. Pit crew were 5€ each this year. Other than that it's making sure people have the info they need, especially if there is anyone new, things like doctors certificates, copies of ID, helmets, etc. You saw the maps I did this year, admittedly I didn't manage to get them to the cars beforehand this year but the idea was that if a car missed the ferry or got lost they had everything in that pack to get them there from maps to ferry details to campsite money.

I hope this info helps.

Re:Le Mans 2008 - 28 & 29th June 2008 - 20:23 24 Oct 07 Are any of you planning to skate non-stop for 24 hours?

Were there any longboarders there last year?

Many thanks
Keith

Re:Le Mans 2008 - 28 & 29th June 2008 - 20:27 24 Oct 07 There was one longboarder who we cheered everytime we saw him from our viewing point. I think if he didn't do ALL 24 hours he certainly did a good chunk of it.

He got a BIG cheer from everyone at the end of the race.

Re:Le Mans 2008 - 28 & 29th June 2008 - 23:26 24 Oct 07 That longboarder was great! I saw you all discussing the Le Mans 24 on the longboarders forum and have been meaning to post there.

Much as the guy that did it Solo last year did a fantastic job I can't actually see it being that much fun on your own. Most of the fun for me was the whole team travelling down together, setting up camp, getting rained on, lack of sleep as you get up for shifts at strange hours and push your body at strange times of day.... why do we do this again???
