Re:Le Mans 2008 - 28 & 29th June 2008 - 11:07 27 Feb 08
So having spoken to Dan Solo and dogsbody last night I’ve had some thoughts on a smaller 2nd team (say 14 people altogether across 2 teams).
Heres my thoughts....
I had a look at the Le Mans rules and prices. 1 team costing approx £370 can have between 2 and 10 people. 1 Duo costs approx £200 and is specifically 2 people.
So with 3 or 4 extra people in addition to the curent 10 in team ‘A’ who want to join in the Camberley group at Le Mans we can enter a 2nd team no problems. Also – similar to what Lemming suggests – is there anything to stop us swapping people among teams?? If we have around 14 people altogether I wondered about everyone swapping in at some stage to do a few laps as part of the team ‘A’ effort which is a dedicated keep-the-baton-going team and team ‘B’ is an overflow, if you like, for anyone to skate as much as they like in addition?? I thought about the possibility of 1 team and 1 DUo should there be 12 altogether but that might be a hassle - we may not get away with swapping people around so easily - this might be breaking Le Mans rules and we'd get noticed - not sure if it matters??
Anyways, I use the example of 14 people as there are currently Darren, Chez, Drakey and Dan Solo who I gauge as being still keen…
But with a smaller 2nd team there is of course cost implication - fewer in the team = more ££ per head…. But not a heck of a lot more…
Example of ££ costs to team numbers (assuming split equally for all in the Camberley group): 1 team of 10 people - £370 = £37 per person. 1 team of 10 people plus 1 Duo - £570 = £48 per person. 1 team of 10 people plus 1 team of 4 - £740 = £53 per person. 1 team of 10 people plus 1 team of 5 - £740 = £49 per person. 1 team of 10 people plus 1 team of 6 - £740 = £46 per person…..
Also bear in mind people from the original 10 could drop out which could throw it all out the window anyway (I hope not!!)….
Perhaps it would be an idea to have a first Le Mans meet up pretty soon, like March – easier than trying to do this via the forum?? Maybe even arrange an evening for Eelmoor or Dorney once its lighter in the evenings to start a few practice laps??
Thoughts anyone??
