Re:Korea - Jeonju - 23:58 07 Sep 07 last night in more detail!

Well last night was interesting! I go to meet the mayor of the city and have dinner with him and all the skate officials.. i recieved a big wrapped present from the mayor.... had a thousand photos taken both with the press and with every girl in the building! its a hard life! I also had to do a TV interview which was great as the translator wasn't amazing at translating.... so i just said a load of rubbish.."its an amazing opportunity to come to korea to see all the beautiful people and skate in this wonderful country!!" hahaha!

Then after some more photos.. we all came back to the hotel.
After been back 10 minutes the skaters from Singapore asked me to come and skate with them outside the front of the hotel.. so on go my skates! and blow me down... i somehow managed to impress them! i flukely spun through 4 cone on one wheel... i've never done that many before in my life and probably never will again!!! Now they think im going to rock in this competition!!! But i've seen their runs and they are actually way better than me!

Today is competition day... just about to have breakfast and then go on a tour of the city... have lunch in the same place where i ate stingray and then we are going on a cultural experience??!! god knows what that will be!

Then after all that the competitiions start at 1600 and stop at 1900 for dinner...then they continue untill they all the qualifications are finished... in these competitions they get close to 80 competitors for the slalom!

So i'll fill you all in on how i got on today later if i have time!!

just dont hit the cones!

then i met a guy called saun..or i think thats what he said... he speaks good english

That sounds like An Seong Bae. His 'English name' is Sean. He was busy preparing for the comp when Naomi and I left Korea. He was the guy we stayed with most when we were there. Did you find out if Benjamin is there with the Singapore skaters?

Re:Korea - Jeonju - 16:07 11 Sep 07 i'm back home now after a marathon journey! i've got a lot to say so i will start from where i left off on saturday!

i didnt do to well in the competitions... i think i let nerves get the better of me but oh well...it will make me train harder for my next competition.

So saturday night.. 00:30 two of the guys from singapore knocked on my door and asked if i wanted to go get some food...so i threw some clothes on and we walked down to the local supermarket past the brothels where we enjoyed the lovely scenery!!

bought some noodles and water and went back to their room in the hotel and slagged off the chinese and korean skaters for being so good!

went to bed at 2am got up at 6 for breakfast to be at the competition area for 7.

While waiting around for the competition to start at 9:30 i had my photo taken with yet more girls and other koreans! and the press would stalk from a far with their mega big cameras and snap away from time to time and then show me the picture they had taken!!

The competition was amazing...though it made me feel quite sick at the same time...a 14 year old chinese boy won the mens style comp and an 11 year old chinese girl won the ladies freestyle comp..... time to do the drug tests i think!!

After the comeptiton i had my photo taken with 6 korean models, but was gutted i didnt have my camera with me at the time to get a picture for myself but i did managed to get a couple of snaps later on!

with the competition over we all went for lunch to the SoSo resturant, which is the place where i ate the stingray and the thing that goes woof! ( i didnt know it was dog till afterwards!) we had one mighty feast and then my interperator took me to downtown to see the shops and some more of the city!

while we were there, we went in to KFC just to get a drink and a little boy came up and stroked my arm and gave me a wave...cute! i waved back and he just stood there staring at me!

We then took a walk back to the hotel through the city and by then it was nearly time for dinner.. so we just got changed for that and headed to a supposed italian resturant with all the skaters... i say suppossed because most of the food that came out was still spicey korean food ( they love their spice.. most of the food out there is very hot!)

Once we had finished weal went back to the hotel packed our bags and met up at 9pm to go out to a 'night club'

TAKE A BREAK HERE... MAKE A CUP OFF TEA...IF YOU ARE STILL READING THIS..YOU ARE DOING WELL.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

The night club...............

it is very different to any club here in the United Kingdom of Great Britain! first of all on arrival to the club everyone was given a pint of water each...before you buy your drinks...cant have people getting drunk now! then.. the DJ...if you can call them a DJ there were 4 or 5 different ones through the night, all as bad as each oher.. they talk so much on the mic its more like a bad version of the Chris Moyles show on international radio 1! It was funny though and on DJ bless her did make sure i got a fair few free drinks!
Ohh and the also have breaks... the DJ tells everyone to get up and dance ... everyone goes to the dance floor.. the boys all do some very impressive hiphop and breakdance moves and the girls bounce along to the beat quite well to... that last for 15-20 minutes and then the DJ tells everyone to sit down for a bit and the whole floor clears and the DJ puts Will Young on to calm it all down (This was in a R&B/HipHop club too!) and then 15 minutes later we are back on the dance floor grooving awa to some old classics!

When i say we all went to the club.. that includes skaters and coaches from India, Israel, Indonesia, Japan, Tiawan and my korean interperator, plus one other interperator and one of the events organisors...Mr Kim ( i cant remember his first name)

Now... Mr Kim was ment to be the one who was sorting out everyones bus tickets for the next day to get to the airport.. he ended up drinking a lot and was pissed as a fart come 2 o'clock when we went back to the hotel!

I set Mr Kims alarm for 2:20 as Joie Baptiste had to leave the hotel at 2:30 to catch his bus... I got to my room and Joie Baptiste was still up.. so i told him that he may have to knock on Mr Kim's door to get him up so he can get to the bus terminal!

I fall asleep and i am woken up by the door bell..its Joie Baptiste... its gone 2:30.. he just said 'max, please help me..Mr kim wont get up!'

I went to Mr Kims floor and he is in the corridor in his boxers trying to use his key to get back into his room...only that it was room 700 and he is in 702! I opened his door and gave him his clothes to put on and then rushed him down to the lobby so Baptiste could get a taxi to the bus terminal. I decided that i should go with Baptiste in the taxi..to make sure he gets the right ticket for the right bus etc... we get to the bus terminal and go to buy the ticket...then we get the bad news...'sorry...next bus with seat....6am" oh fucking bollocks!!! Baptiste must get on the 3am bus otherwise he will miss his flight....there is nothing we can do....then the taxi driver called the hotel and the receptionist came all the way down to try and help sort out a bus ticket...no luck either... so we all go back to the hotel.. so i told Mr kim that he will have to pay for Baptiste to get a taxi to the airport....but... not just baptiste...the chinese and the israel skaters too... as they all need to leave before 6am! so they all fit into 3 taxi's each costing 250000 won each... think thats around £200 per taxi!!

So with all those skaters on their way i got hold of Mr kim's list of al the departure times for the skaters and i worked out the times that they all need to get buses from Jeonju and i got the receptionist to book the seats for the rest of the skaters and i go to bed and slept for 1 hour before getting up to get my bus!

i set off on my treck home...only took 22 hours in total!

I'll put the photos up later!

sorry for writing such an essay..i hope you enjoyed reading it, sorry for any spelling mistakes..im too tired to check for them!!!
