Wheels and wheel hardness - 08:53 06 Jun 07 Unlike some I really liked the wheels that Salomon made for their FSK range, they were quite hard wearing for all the street skating. Unfortunately, with Salomon pulling out the market they are no longer available and I need to look for replacements.

My Salomon wheels have a hardness of 83A
My indoor (soft) wheels have a hardness of 74A

So what hardness of wheel do other people use and how hard wearing are they? Very happy to hear they are bringing back Red Dwarf in 2009 for four episodes!!

Re:Wheels and wheel hardness - 12:52 06 Jun 07 I'm not really that fussy about wheel spec. The ones I've got on at the moment are 80mm 78A from Decathlon and were put on new for Le Mans last year. They're now down to an average of 77mm after about 250 street miles.

They do tend to slip a bit indoors when new, so best run-in with a bit of outdoor use.

Stars are supposed to be quite grippy though. I know that Matters are the wheel of choice for the actually fast people. ! Skate Monkey !

So far so good, nice and grippy, i'll let you know how long they last.

I think that there's a lot of variation between brands as well, so an 84A by one company could be completely different to the same rating by another company's wheels. If you care. ! Skate Monkey !
