Re:msn? - 19:53 19 Jun 05 A few people have if you look in the Directory as there is an area for MSN (you don't have your MSN details in there though).

Personally I stay as far away from Micr$oft products as possible. You can always find me on ICQ or Yahoo Messenger

Re:msn? - 20:23 19 Jun 05 Grrr my dad won't let me have MSN - says it takes over the PC. If anyone has found a good chatroom to use that doesn't need to be downloaded, please tell me!

Re:msn? - 21:08 19 Jun 05 There are lots of free chat websites, however a lot of them fall down because you have to visit them to see if anyone is there. Where the downloadable chat's work is that you can instantly see who is online without having to keep a browser window open all the time you are online. I totally agree with your dad, it does take over. Yahoo is a fine as long as when you install it you ask for a custom install and tell it you want JUST the messenger part. ICQ is great and I am a huge ICQ user, it doesn't take over your PC and it has lots of options (a bit complex because of it).

I have now added a chat room to my liste of things to do for this site... it's getting a long list! and I have been working on cskate most of the day

Re:msn? - 21:38 19 Jun 05 MSN is bad for bringing your computer down and generally taking over. Microsoft already have enough of a strangle hold, so your Dad's right. ! Skate Monkey !

Re:msn? - 23:21 21 Jun 05 I heart ICQ. It's how I met Dan in the first place, many moons ago. I tried MSN and Yahoo but my blood-pump belongs to ICQ. Je suis belle et ça ne demande aucun effort

Re:msn? - 00:13 22 Jun 05 I don't much care from Micro$oft either but I do know a lot of people who use MSN IM, and AOL, and ICQ and Yahoo..... so....

I use gaim, it's multi-protocol so I can keep in touch with all my friends whatever client they use and it works on Linux, MacOS X, and Windows.

Best of all, it means I can talk to MSN users without poluting my machine with any more MS Products than is actually necessary! - if your dad (quite rightly) won't allow MSN on the PC, perhaps you could sneak gaim past him.

oops - I think I'd better go to sleep now, I've got to get up at 6.00 (bl@@dy forum )

Re:msn? - 08:26 22 Jun 05 Gaim and Trillian are great apps but I must admit that I did miss the things that made each of the individula clients unique such as webcam/sending URL's etc. etc. ICQ at least has a client for most OS's including some PDA's Embedding gravatar.com icons in the Goodwood Roller Marathon site to give each racer a unique avatar that they can change if they want. - Twitter Status
