IBitwobbly, are you not interested?
Woahh there fella! Yeah, I'm interested for sure - just haven't got around to stumping up the cash yet. If I see Mansfield on Sunday perhaps I can let her have it then.

Re:Any more for Le Mans 08 - 22:03 19 Nov 07 I was going to ask you Dan if you had any suggestions before I look at ferry times etc..Errr probably But suggestions for what exactly? From now on I'm going to express all IP addresses in 192.0xa8.0020.235 form just to be awkward. - Twitter Status

Re:Any more for Le Mans 08 - 22:23 23 Nov 07 It's certainly possible although one hell of a rush! A few of the London team have done it and you do turn up tired on the Saturday to go straight into 24 hours skating and invariably have to leave just before the finish to get home again.

Personally I would book the two days off now, it's only two days for a load of fun If people do want to travel on other days then they should make their own arrangements, there is enough to organise an entire team all doing the same thing let alone with two teams as it may be this year. I used the questionnaire last year to find out who was doing what.

It also doesn't work if everyone does it as we wouldn't get our capsite space and would all have to camp all over the place where ever there was space (you saw what it was like). If however it was just a couple of people then I would have thought the majority could take their tents and equipment down in cars and set them up ready for them to turn up on Saturday. As I say, this only works for a couple of people though

I hope this helps.

Re:Any more for Le Mans 08 - 12:40 26 Nov 07 Thanks Dan, useful info for the practicalities.
I hope that most will be able to take the Fri/Mon off as per last year - just wanted just to find out if its possible as Chez doesnt have as flexible annual leave as most of us.

Re:Any more for Le Mans 08 - 21:38 26 Nov 07 Just had a look at ferry times and costs etc. The only one I think I could get is the 23.45 one on Friday 27th which will arrive in Caern at 0700. For this ferry you have to book 'accomodation' as it is overnight. I would then have to return 1715 - 2215 on the Sunday evening. However, for 2 people (I did it assuming Darren would accompany me in the car) it seems to cost £214 quid which will be £117 each.

Seems quite expensive but does anyone have any better suggestions?

Re:Any more for Le Mans 08 - 23:38 26 Nov 07 Not really to be honest. Red has a Brittany Ferries discount card which I'm sure you can use if you buy her a drink and may help.

Ferries mainly charge for the car load, doing the sums last year it only cost approx an extra £20 per person to add to a car. e.g....

1 person per car = £194 = £194 per person
2 persons per car = £214 = £107 per person
3 persons per car = £234 = £78 per person
4 persons per car = £254 = £63.5 per person

... this is why a convoy works so well I'm afraid.

Seeing as your looking at 1 or 2 people on the ferry you may want to check out the eurostar. It's is more expensive but if you book far enough in advance it may work out better and would also allow you to sleep on the journey. I think it's Eurostar to Paris (or the stop before Paris) and TDG?? (fast train) directly down to Le Mans. I'm sure one of us can pick you up from the station.

Re:Any more for Le Mans 08 - 12:59 27 Nov 07 Sapphire and myself used Eurotunnel to take the car from Folkstone to Calais when we went touring earlier this year.

Using Tesco Clubcard vouchers, giving £10 of travel for every £2.50 voucher, it was far cheaper and quicker than the ferry.

Re:Any more for Le Mans 08 - 18:47 27 Nov 07 How do you book TDG? Never used French trains! Thanks for offer about picking up from a station! Will look into eurostar when I get a chance!
