Re:London Inline Marathon - 31 Aug 2008 - 14:08 29 Aug 08 If I do it, I will start at 12 noon. I am taking photos and doing a Skate Mag write up, so I can't skate during the actual race.

Re:London Inline Marathon - 31 Aug 2008 - 15:18 29 Aug 08 Hi MCS,
Good luck for the marathon on Sunday - hope you get some decent weather and don't have to fight against a barrier of wind for any of the course!!!!

Re:London Inline Marathon - 31 Aug 2008 - 18:35 31 Aug 08 Well that was ..... wet!

The race was cancelled after part of the course went permanently underwater. "Luckily" most racers had finished by then!

Re:London Inline Marathon - 31 Aug 2008 - 06:52 01 Sep 08 That downpour about 2.15 in was utterly mental. I felt sorry for the quaddie still going round. Reminded me of Sardinia... ! Skate Monkey !

Well I didnt make it in the end. I got stuck on the M3 just east of Basingstoke. Six mies in 45 minutes - so I gave up and went to the pub instead.

I'd have been disappointed if I hadn't finished and they stopped the race, especially if the faster skaters had all completed their races. When we did Goodwood in heavy rain, we just carried on - through some wheel deep puddles that covered the track.

Any results yet?

I'd have been disappointed if I hadn't finished and they stopped the race, especially if the faster skaters had all completed their races. When we did Goodwood in heavy rain, we just carried on - through some wheel deep puddles that covered the track. There wasn't really a choice in stopping the race, the "puddles" were more like ponds and came up to your ankles. If people wanted to carry on they could and one quadie did that was doing it for charity. The chip timing had completely stopped at that point as it wasn't designed for the timing wires to work underwater (I'm not joking either)!!!

Any results yet?Not yet, it's all being done by LSST, I just helped out on the day.

Some pictures up online although no real pics of "the rain"...

Re:London Inline Marathon - 31 Aug 2008 - 08:53 01 Sep 08 I was the last Marshal still on the track when the quaddie was "surfing" around. He didn't seem to mind the rain.

Reckon he should have won the wet t-shirt competition !

Well done to MCS & Lemming for completing their races.
