Places not to skate!!! - 21:52 06 Dec 07
After mentioning that I was bringing my skates out here to loverly hot tunisia <edit horrible cold wet tunisia>
someone suggested adding it to the places to skate, well - - - -

Whilst it is a developing country and there are loads of new roads which look very skateable, you'd be suicidal to try it, the cars here just do whatever they want, drive anywhere they want, even on the pavements and are always in a mad rush, you pause at a traffic lightg 1 sec after it's changed and there are 10 cars behind you beeping there horns, honestly.
Having said the roads look pretty good you probably think the same consideration goes into the pathways, oh how wrong you are, I dont think they understand pathways as being anything more then something to enclose the road.
If however you do find a skateable area, be prepared for hills as everywhere is up and down and also be prepared for wet surfaces, I dont know how they get wet but even when it's really dry you'll come across areas that are soaking, I think perhaps some of their vehicles pick a spot to dump water.
I brought my skates here and skated 0 times.
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car. |
