Windsor Great Park? - 12:58 04 Jan 08 I'm keen to try somewhere different for a bit of skating or nordic blading when its rougher/wetter underfoot. Eelmoor just gets a bit too boring after 20 plus laps and whilst I love the smoothness of Dorney - the dogs and the peds can be pain after a bit. I was therefore thinking that there must be some decent tracks/paths around the Great Park - but it's so darn big I don't know where to start. I don't mind hills (good run-outs essential) or even rough tarmac as I've got inflatable tyres on the nordics. Anyone recommend a good place to park and set off?

Re:Windsor Great Park? - 14:50 04 Jan 08 Er yeah I was supposed to do a write-up!!

Around Saville Garden and Virginia Water has a good route. I got a map from Windsor tourist Board that shows a "Rollerblade Route", plus I went around Virginia Water on the Cycle Path. It was a good 8 mile circuit with some interesting terrain.

I parked near Saville Garden and followed the map. It's not actually Saville Garden main entrance but the "side" entrance.

Hope this helps

Re:Windsor Great Park? - 15:00 04 Jan 08 Sounds good, looking forward to the write up When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Re:Windsor Great Park? - 16:35 04 Jan 08 Thanks for your replies - probably head over there on Sunday so will let you know how I get on - an 8 mile circuit sounds exactly what I'm looking for.

Re:Windsor Great Park? - 19:32 04 Jan 08 I agree - this sounds fantastic. Better than the flat monotony of dorney, even if it is nice. ! Skate Monkey !

Re:Windsor Great Park? - 11:13 05 Jan 08 Yeahh, it would be useful Red if you can scan the map and link it to your gallery.

Could be a good facility.

Re:Windsor Great Park? - 14:45 05 Jan 08 Not able to scan it in for 2 reasons......

1. It's A3 size
and most importantly

2. I can't find it

Perhaps we could arrange a convoy when the weather's a bit better. A CSKATE day out, perhaps instead of a Saturday session?

Just a thought
