Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 23:38 12 Mar 08 I like the simpler list with regard to inlines. Else you'll have to split the different types of quads, and so on and so on and so on.

It might be a good idea to keep longboard, skateboard and scooters in the list though.

Us inliners may think that longboards and skateboards are similar, but to boarders, they're probably as different as inlines and quads to us. Maybe Winnersh could comment as we wouldn't want to offend any type of skaters.

As regards the video, I feel it could be topped and tailed to half or less of it's length. It's OK, but long with bits of inactivity where the camera is scanning for action, and probably too much of the speed skaters.

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 00:19 13 Mar 08 Thinking about it, I should probably do it like I do the Sports clubs, have an "Other" option that allows people to type their own description in and if more than one person signs up with it then I'll permanently add it to the list.

Still not sure about the Longboard/skateboard thing though!

Compared to the original of that video I was quite proud of my little edit. I do realise it's rubbish though compared to the pro stuff. I'll do a shout out for a re-edit.

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 23:13 13 Mar 08 Have just checked the Goodwood home page. A couple of observations.

1.
This year we have added an extra race, introducing the mega race at 101km!! The four races this year will be:

Replace with:

2.
You can do as many of the 11 laps (26 miles) as you wish.

This is confusing as we have four different race lengths. I think we should remove this sentence.

It's really the pan from 1:55 to 2:01 which I would cut. Also as we are trying to interest the casual/social/hockey/board skaters, (the speed skaters know about the event), we should remove a bit of the speed, maybe replaced with casual. But maybe the scenes aren't there. Regret I don't have the kit to play around with it.

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 00:47 14 Mar 08 Thanks MCS, the changes have been made to the homepage.

I agree with you totally about the video. That bit at the two min mark isn't good (although it's better than the zooming in on breasts in the original). Looking back at the original it looks like I have left all the skating in that I had, most of the footage was of crowd

Now that we have your video we can edit the two together, at least, someone can (see other thread). In the mean time I wasn't sure if this video should go up or not? I still think it gives people new to Goodwood a good idea of what they will see there by showing off the track and the atmosphere.

I think as we have the video you've done, it should go up, for the reasons you've stated. It can always be changed if somebody is able to do a re-cut.

I'd probably go for longboard/skateboard otherwise it might confuse boarders.

Most will be longboarding because cruising/traveling is part of the attraction. Shortboards/Popsicle sticks are more commonly used for street/park so less likely to travel long distances. Longboard/skate also works if someone doesn't immediately realise what a longboard is. (everyone knows what a skateboard is)

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 15:20 14 Mar 08 Thank you winnersh

Well as everyone knows what a skateboard is but we have only really advertised to Longboarders I'm gonna just stick with Longboard for now. There will be an "Other" option for anyone that wants to call their wheels by anything else
