Cskate asbox - 09:19 13 Mar 08 After reading through some Cskate minutes I see we are wanting our own asbox,
I can't promise much but I am quite keen to have a go at putting something together but what I need is parts and so if anyone has anything they no longer require I'd be happy to try and give it a new use.
I'm looking for:
A metal external framed back pack, I think 75Litres or bigger will do it but I'd be happy to try and work with something smaller, I only need the frame so the canvas can be any condition.
A Sub woofer speaker, I am thinking around 12inch but again I'd try anything of reasonable size.
A couple of smaller speakers, with a reasonable output (I don't suppose anyone knows where I could get some freebie BOSE )
A car amplifier, again I am not sure about the wattage but I'll give anything a go.
A motorbike battery or something similar to deliver 12VDC the higher the amps and the smaller the size the better.
A proper microphone, perhaps an old karaoke machine one.

I already have orange paint

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Re:Cskate asbox - 12:46 13 Mar 08 Nice one!

I have some old UPS sealed lead acid batteries you can have if you want. They weigh a lot though (my guess is 12kg) so they probably won't be much good for the actual asbox although they would be OK for testing while your building!

I also have boxes of old electronics in storage (I don't have anywhere to do it any more) which I'm sure includes a microphone preamp circuit and loads of wire/components etc.

Also, if you do spend any money then keep the reciepts and cskate may be able to reimburse you.
So who originally came up with size of a U as a measurement of a rack unit? - Twitter Status

Re:Cskate asbox - 16:17 13 Mar 08 I have two old like Hi Fi speakers which I thin kDB said to keep just in case they were any good for this sorta thing.

They maybe useless but you can certainly have them and smash them to piece if needs be LOL

They will probably only go to the dump when I next clear out anyway.

Pleased to hear you have the most important part - Orange Paint!!

Re:Cskate asbox - 17:15 13 Mar 08 Thanks Merry, keep them and I'll let you know when I next get over to you, if you have a tape measure it would be great if you can measure the front of them.

Thanks DB, the pre amp might be useful indeed, I can make a 12V supply for my shed so no worries about that part.

Re:Cskate asbox - 19:33 13 Mar 08 Drat, I just missed out on an amp form Ebay

I have bidded on another http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140212785039&ssPageName=STRK:MEBI:IT&ih=004
but I won't bid much more as it's not really what I want, I think getting the amp is going to be the hardest part. I am going back to China just after Easter so I'll have a look there.

Re:Cskate asbox - 20:28 13 Mar 08 That amp is huge!!

You may want to check out Freecycle too as there are sometimes people getting rid of audio stuff for free.

In fact, you could even try some car stereo places and ask for any old stuff they have that could go to a good home... or just wait till night and go skip diving in their bins

Re:Cskate asbox - 20:36 13 Mar 08 Yea it does look big, I don't know why some bigger Wattage amps look smaller in size?
Freecycle is being monitored, but perhaps some of you could keep an eye on your local Freecycle groups as I don't want all them mails on top of the present amout I already get.

I'm registered for our local Freecycle groups so will keep an eye out for anything good.
