Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 15:44 11 Mar 08 Can I please ask a few people to check my work on the Goodwood Website, I'm particularly interested in spelling mistakes, bad content or even layout and other feedback.

Things that have recently changed:

The posters are now up online

Sponsorship page and sponsorship forms are now up

I have also tidied up the site in general, added details of the mega race to the relevant pages and removed direct talk of "Championchip" replacing with "Timing Chip"

Race Summary for 2007 now added

The private racers pages (which will now be deleted for all the 2008 entrants) have now turned into public racers pages that allow anyone to download certificates, view their video finish and search for pics for anyone that entered in previous years. We could even sort out pics and certificates for the 2006 racers if we wanted!!?? Racers Page

We now also have a secure encrypted site if we need it. I'm not sure how we'll use it yet but always good for people giving us secure information. Please tell me if you get any error messages when accessing https://www.goodwoodmarathon.co.uk/ on various devices.

I'm sure there will be more later but all feedback appreciated.

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 16:25 11 Mar 08 Looks and works well with IE 7.0.5730.11

Perhaps the sponsorship forms and posters could be opened in another window but it is no hardship to press the back button.

Nice work.

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 09:09 12 Mar 08 There is no address to send registration money to on the poster. Are you assuming that everybody will have access to the web site?

I can't see an obvious address on the web site either.

I can accesss everything okay - no failures

Good point Peter - I think the issue we have on the poster is space Plus the posters are just advertising really - No one can really register just via that as we need a Registration form to be completed (which does contain the address for cheque payments) I suppose the poster has all the contact details at the bottom so IF someone is really desperate they can call us and we would have to work out a way to get a registration form to them. Most people have access or know someone who has access to the internet in todays world. Even Local library if people are desperate.

This is part of the Registration process which hasn't been made live on the website yet

Thanks for the feedback.

Oh and DB Website works fine both at work and at home.

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 14:17 12 Mar 08 Will you be adding details about who to make cheques payable to as well?

Ignore this - I should read replies more carefully.

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 14:18 12 Mar 08 Yeah the web issue has been hotly debated in meetings, especially as some of our core organisers team don't have web access. There is really only so much we can do though and compared to a lot of other races that now only take registration online and with a credit card I don't think we are doing too bad. There is only so much we can fit on the posters, if we included the registration and sponsorship forms it could easy turn into a 5 page booklet! We'll happily post forms to people. All that said, registering online makes it a lot easier for us too and with this year looking to be bigger than ever the less paperwork the better!

The registration part of the site isn't live yet (I'm still programming and Merry is still doing the paper/pdf forms) but it will be the same as last year with anyone being able to register either online or by post and then being able to pay by either cash, cheque, paypal, credit card or BACs transfer.

i hope that helps

BTW - is this page good enough quality to go live on the site?

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 14:26 12 Mar 08 I would say the video is not good enough to go on the live site. The first 2 minutes don't really show anything at all

Is anybody going to video this year. Can I suggest they get their skates on and go to different parts of the course, especially the faster bits

Can you tell us as soon as we can start distributing the posters please?

Sponsorship forms are also there to use if required

Registration will be open as soon as we can.

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon Website - 18:24 12 Mar 08 I would say the video is not good enough to go on the live site. The first 2 minutes don't really show anything at allI quite like the vid, I know it's not David Cronenberg or anything but it shows that it's a family fun event. What do others think?

More importantly, I'm just adding the "What wheels do you use" question but I'm unsure as to what options to give?

A simple
- Inline Skates
- Quad Skates
- Other Skates
- Roller Skis
- Skateboard
- Other

Or a longer
- Inline Speed Skates
- Inline Recreational Skates
- Inline Hockey Skates
- Inline Skates Other
- Quad Skates
- Other Skates
- Roller Skis
- Longboard
- Skateboard
- Scooter
- Other

?????????????
