Just signed up to your forum, having been a casual skater for a number of years, trundling round Eelmoor on occasion. I expect I'm a bit of an oldie in comparison to you others - is there a veteran's class? I've just got myself some inline speed skates and already thinking about signing-up for Goodwood in a few weeks. My main sport is cycling, so the endurance doesn't bother me, just whether my feet and ankles will survive!

Don’t feel too ignored if no one else says hello for a while, it’s going to be a bit quiet on here this weekend with many of the regular posters away at Le Mans. Oh and don’t go thinking you’ve got the vet’s category all to yourself, there’s a few of us ahead of you in that particular class!

Re:Introduce yourself! - 17:07 02 Jul 07 Hi! I'm a little old lady skater. I ice skate and have inline roller figure skates so I can skate the same way I ice skate. These inline figure skates are very new - I may be the first person in UK to own a pair.

Monty Dog, you are definitely not the oldest here with the oldest being 71!

sanderella, I have seen those jumpspin skates before but never in the UK, would love to see them in use. While we have lots of places to skate outside I'm afraid all the inside places cost money. Check out the Camberley Arena and Winter Sessions in the FAQ. Oops... Re:Introduce yourself! - 15:40 03 Jul 07 Lemming - yes, it must have been me you met a few weeks ago one Tuesday evening. My new skates have arrived, so conditions permitting, I may venture over to Eelmoor tonight. I had my first fall in years on Thursday, luckily only scuffing my old skates and wrist guards - conditions were ideal with a slight cross-wind which meant a little bit more speed on the backstraight than expected! I'll have to be careful with the new skates then as I know they're a lot, lot faster.

Re:Introduce yourself! - 18:29 03 Jul 07 Welcome one and all - as folk have already said age is not a barrier in this sport or this group. We have quite an age span from 9 years to 70 plus.

Hope to catch you at one of our locations (Camberley Arena, Eelmoor, Sandhurst etc etc) or at one of the events......Eatbourne Extreme 14th & 15th July and Goodwood (our event) Jul 29th. There are lost of posts and information about these two events on the site, please feel free to browse.
