Re:Cskate asbox - 18:26 06 Jul 08 We are missing a few things to get the most out of our awesome new Asbox. If anyone can help with donating any of these then Cskate would be very very grateful!

- Car/Motorbike Battery Charger - Currently we have no way of recharging the Asbox.
- Any spare car electronics, specifically we need power switches, wiring and inline fuse holders.
- Any spare car amplifiers, If they are small enough we may be able to pair them up and get double the power out of it.
- Microphones, I would like to enhance the Asbox so it can be used as a PA system as well so any microphones or such would be great.

Anything else you think may be fun, I was looking in Halfords today at some of the fun little neon lights that you can pimp your car with, if anyone has anything like this they no longer need then I'm sure they can be added.

Re:Cskate asbox - 19:58 06 Jul 08 I still got the first amplifier, it is a huge beast and a tad heavy, it's rated at 300W which is less than the one we are using but it sounds awesome and it sounds louder, apparently rated output can be missleading.
Fuse holders, LED's, wires and switches; Have a look at http://www.arcolectric.co.uk/products.html and place your order with me.

I'll get your other electronics back to you soon somehow.

Re:Cskate asbox - 12:10 07 Jul 08 Yeah, that other amp is a huge beast by the looks of it! Lets keep that in reserve

Oh wow, cool, is that were you work?? I shall have a shop for switches and such

No worries, perhaps if MCS is back that way sometime.

Questions for the floor...

1) Do you (anyone reading this) think we need some form of under voltage protection? I seem to remember being able to destroy amps if the voltage goes too low!?

2) The battery is going to be a pain to keep in one place! Anyone have any idea of the best way to tie down a heavy battery?

B... Bracket to case (like is done sometimes with car batteries).
C... Wooden bridge across top of battery screwed down to the case.
D... Wooden lid over top of battery screwed down to the case.

Re:Cskate asbox - 13:29 07 Jul 08 Don't use a car battery charger unless it's got a bike mode - you'll wreck the battery. ! Skate Monkey !

Re:Cskate asbox - 13:44 07 Jul 08 Thanks Lemming, I did wonder. The battery says "Charge at 0.6A for 5-10hr or 3.0A for 1hr "

PaulC (of Thumper fame) suggested the following... "maybe ask a car scrapers if they have any amps out of a high end car, sometimes they are small to fit under dashboards, most aftermarket amps are for driving large subwoofers & are not good for Asboxes" ... anyone know any car scrapyards!?

Re:Cskate asbox - 15:53 07 Jul 08 I thought that was a scrap metal yard? It certainly looks like the cars that go into there are already crushed (have all the good bits removed). Getting increasingly hooked on captionx.com , try it, you may like it! - Twitter Status
