Thanks to organisers! - 14:33 12 Aug 08 Thanks to all those who put time and effort into organising the Goodwood event. Great day out and a special thankyou to those of you on that corner after we had battled the wind who provided the water!! Not sure I would have made it round 11 times without looking forward to that on each circuit

It looked like most people were enjoying it!

Maybe we'll see you at Camberley Arena, Sandhurst Sports Centre or one of our infrequent street skates sometime.

Failing that see you again on one of the London Wed Skates.

Re:Thanks to organisers! - 20:17 12 Aug 08 Definately +1 on BIG HUGE thanks to the organisers and helpers, I was sitting in the car after, swigging a cold can and chatting to my mate who also skated, self-congratulating ourselves and admiring all the organising and effort you guys put in to produce an absolutely stunning event. It's obvious you guys totally dig skating and can't wait to join you lot again at another event/roller disco/street skate/etc. hopefully introduce myself and skate with you lot instead of yelling "how many laps left..." to you

I have either done or been involved in every Goodwood Marathons, and I can tell you that was the worst by some way in terms of wind. So don't be put off - next year will be lovely

My pleasure. We did think about moving the water stop based on speed skaters comments. But the don't tend to take water from us, so we stuck with top of the hill. It does seem to provide a welcome reason to slow down for a moment after that long uphill slog.

I did try to work out how much water we actually handed out but gave up in the end. It was a lot. Once skaters started coming round on their second lap we were filling cups continuously for about a solid hour.

Thanks for the welcome! Yes - will definitely try and make one of the Camberley skate sessions later in the year. In the meantime no doubt will catch up with you at one of the London skates!
