Replacement heal brake - 08:50 26 Apr 09 Hi All

Is anyone able to give me advice on getting a new heal brake? After only 2 street skates I have worn mine down to the "get a new brake" line!

My skates are made by Decathlon and they don't seem to do an online order/post thingy and no one else seems to stock the replacement- am I able to use any type of heal brake or do I have a problem as I can't get to a decathlon store to buy one for ages???

I know the obvious answer is to learn to T-stop and I'm working on this, but am not confident enough to rely on that as a stopping method yet!

Thanks Guys

V

Re:Replacement heal brake - 09:27 26 Apr 09 Regret that I think it most unlikely that a brake pad from another manufacturer could be made to fit. They are not universal. There are some pictures of pads from different manufacturers here at Proline. At Warehouse One are some more brakes from different manufacturers. I have Salomon brake pads if you want to look and see if you think it may adapt (same as the one on the Proline page). I also have a Stateside (now SFR I think) brake assembly and a Fila brake pad. I presume this would be your brake block.

I have recollection of seeing a general purpose brake assembly somewhere which would fit a selection of skates. Not too sure how it fitted, but I remember the axle bolts had to be changed so that the linkage could screw into a thread in the bolts. Cannot find it anywhere though.

Have you tried phoning Decathlon to see if they would take a telephone order and send by post? Alternatively if your French is any good, the Decathlon french store takes online orders. Don't know if they only deliver to France though.

Re:Replacement heal brake - 19:05 26 Apr 09 While there are a few types of break block, some will fit on other skates. It may be worth taking your existing brake out to see which mounting it has and try and match it up with one of the brake blocks MCS posted.

Probably worth phoning Proline & Club Blue Room as well to see if they can advise on a break block they sell that may fit!?

In Vauxhall for the roller disco. Impressive setup. Now it's time to get my groove on - Twitter Status

Here is another list at Skates.com of brake pads and assemblies. It includes the universal brake assembly I knew I had seen somewhere. It is made by Powerslide and fits onto the two rear axles. I think that the Powerslide assemblies shown at Warehouse One are probably also designed to be universal.

Re:Replacement heal brake - 10:41 27 Apr 09 Gosh- maybe time for new skates - some of these cost a large % of the actual cost of the skates.

Have also emailed Decathlon to see if they will post the replacement to me- which would be the best option!

Re:Replacement heal brake - 12:31 27 Apr 09 Apparently Decathlon in UK won't post me on as their warehouse is too small???!!!????! And according to my friend the french site only sends to France! Not impressed.....

Re:Replacement heal brake - 12:45 27 Apr 09 There's customer service for you.
I think a 100mile journey for a £3.95 part is really environmentally friendly.

Do you know anybody who lives near one of their outlets who could collect and post it to you?
