Re:WAHOO GOING SHOPPING! - 18:26 25 Jun 09 They look like a pretty good choice.

Two words of advice, though.

1. Try boots from several manufacturers as you may find that your foot is a better fit in a certain brand.

2. Make absolutely sure the boot is the right size. My first two sets were both too large. Speak to whoever serves you to find out what you should be feeling, but generally it's something like, stretch the toes out as far as you can and if they're just touching the end, that's about right (assuming your heel is right back in the boot.

Best of luck

Re:WAHOO GOING SHOPPING! - 21:37 25 Jun 09 Nice skates and have had some good reviews too, the bamboo frames are just silly but I love them In Vauxhall for the roller disco. Impressive setup. Now it's time to get my groove on - Twitter Status

Re:WAHOO GOING SHOPPING! - 23:18 25 Jun 09 Really not sure what to make of these. I've also seen them in Slick Willies which is in the Hyde Park area.

They look fab. Unlike Dogsbody I have been unable to find any reviews. I would however question if the bamboo frames are any better than composite frames. The better frames are normally considered to be aluminium (compared to composite). Bamboo I know is a solid, hard wearing wood. But is it as rigid as aluminium? And will it tend to break after sustained abuse in street skates? If you are looking from an environmental point of view then consider that if they are manufactured in China or Taiwan then they may have been produced using "non fair trade/cheap" labour.

As pointed out by Lemming, the essential requirement is a good fit. I have found that with soft lined skates, they need to be a little tight when new so that your foot can eventually mould into them. There is a tendency for some manufacturers to fit your foot better than others. I think it's more of a width fit across the front of the foot.

Re:WAHOO GOING SHOPPING! - 23:33 25 Jun 09 I doubt bamboo frames are any better than composite frames but what's wrong with composite frames? In Vauxhall for the roller disco. Impressive setup. Now it's time to get my groove on - Twitter Status

Re:WAHOO GOING SHOPPING! - 06:33 26 Jun 09 If I had the choice, I'd go for aluminium frames if I could. IF for no other reason than it's a known entity and we can all vouch for the longevity. ! Skate Monkey !

Re:WAHOO GOING SHOPPING! - 09:11 26 Jun 09 My first skates had composite frames. Composite frames seem ok for general skating, but I found that they tend to be thicker than their alu counterparts. The problem I found is that the frames are easily damaged by falls/slides etc. I also managed to damage them by overtightening the axles.

Re:WAHOO GOING SHOPPING! - 10:48 26 Jun 09 Just like anything, the weakest thing breaks. Alu frames usually don't break however they usually break the boot by cracking the shell.

I'm just happy lauram is getting some new skates

Re:WAHOO GOING SHOPPING! - 12:37 26 Jun 09 Just noticed that these appear to be the only K2 skates supplied without a heel brake. All the other skates pictured show one attached. Up to you Lauram to decide how important that is to you.

Good luck with your purchase tomorrow.
