I think we shoud have the biggest round of applause ever for Camberley Skaters just before the start to say thank you for organising Goodwood again.

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon - 9th August 2009 - 12:01 23 Apr 09 Looking at the entries so far, the roller derby world seems to be well repesented this year.

And somebody from Arun skate club as well

One of the ideas raised at the last meeting was trying for a world record at this years event! So, the question is, what record do you think we should attempt!?

There was a record of the most number of people to skate in an unbroken chain (each skater holds onto waist/shoulders of person in front) over a certain distance attempted in vauxhall roller disco which failed (largely due to ability of some skaters and the ups and downs of the windy course which tripped a few up!

This record attempt was hosted by 'Blistex' when they were promoting their new 'roller ball' lip gloss product!

Might work better on a flat smooth outdoor track if we have enough people signed up to join in?! Unfortunately I don't know the current record but I am sure someone with a bit more free time could research it?!

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon - 9th August 2009 - 20:09 23 Apr 09 This sounds like fun!!
Me and my mates will go at the back so we dont start any kind of pile up...although there might be a record for the most skaters in a pile up??

Stupidly the Guinness World Records site will only let you see all the records they have an entry for and not the current record that you have to break. It seem this record is "Longest inline skating chain" and a quick Google shows that the record is currently at least 280 although there was an attempt at over 500 on 2008!?
In Vauxhall for the roller disco. Impressive setup. Now it's time to get my groove on - Twitter Status

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon - 9th August 2009 - 18:36 30 Apr 09 Just an idea. Would it be okay for a person to skateboard the event with a trailer attached?

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon - 9th August 2009 - 12:36 02 May 09 I think you have just gone from nuts to insane

We had a skater in 2007 that skated with a buggy, while we are happy for you to do it we would ask that you start 1-2 hours behind the rest of the pack so that the speed skaters had finished and the track started to thin a little.

Another option is to enter (what I assume are) your lovely children in the two or five lap race and pick them up for your final last laps which will be when the track it quieter anyway! This is actually what the buggy did and meant the kid in the buggy received an official time, certificate, video finish and medal too

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon - 9th August 2009 - 15:35 03 May 09 Well if Goodwood ever starts not bringing in punters we can always do an Extreme Makeover like the Chicagoland Inline Marathon ! In Vauxhall for the roller disco. Impressive setup. Now it's time to get my groove on - Twitter Status

Re:Goodwood Roller Marathon - 9th August 2009 - 12:02 06 May 09 Why is it taking so long to go from 90+ entrants to 100+? I am desperate to go

Yay - 100 entrants at last
