Re:The Cambox/Asbox thread - 16:39 19 Jul 10 Ah well thanks anyway.
Im taking it apart to add a layer of foam to the mount to help reduce the epic vibration running through it after its full test yesterday, I guess i'll try wrapping the whole thing in shiny fabric before I remount it and see if that holds out against minor moisture...

Re:The Cambox/Asbox thread - 23:04 19 Jul 10 You shouldn't have a problem wrapping the cable connectors, but don't cover the amp as they can get pretty warm. The amp may have cooling fins externally, or vent holes in the case.

Depending on the type of connectors used, silicon grease may help here. It has high insulation and water-repellent properties.

Re:The Cambox/Asbox thread - 23:18 19 Jul 10 If you are coming to the Southampton Skyride then we can certainly give some advice and swap ideas. In fact Paul and Mick will be there who are the gods of the portable soundsystems. You will see what we mean on Sunday There're some awesome films in the charts at the moment. How did I miss Ozombie? An Osama Bin Laden zombie movie! Or Strippers Vs Warewolves - Twitter Status

Good point on both counts, i really should have thought of that considering i purposely mounted the amplifier so that the heat sinks stick out either side. Im off on a quest tomorrow for plastic panels to cover each side, with cutouts for the heat sinks. As to the silicon gel im sure i have some round here somewhere, i think i'll give that a try.

Not silicon sealant, it's corrosive!

You need silicon grease, used for electrical connections and push fit PVC plumbing connections. See here for protecting outdoor satellite coax connections.
Self amalgamating tape is also mentioned on the same page. It is good for wrapping around connections which you don't need to release. It needs stretching to twice its' length as you wrap it so it bonds to itself.
