Skate Business Ideas - 14:13 11 Feb 10
As some of you know, I've just been made redundant from work! Bit of a bummer but these things happen. It does however give me a fantastic opportunity to change tact and have a serious look at some of the skating business ideas that have been task around for the last couple of years.
I'd be interested to see what others think about these ideas, please be honest and let me know what you think would be the problems associated with them.
Skate shop - I really don't think this idea is a goer but I'll list it anyway to see what you think. I think physical shops are very hard to make profitable, especially against the Internet and Internet shops have a lot of competition as it doesn't matter where they are physically based. Skate shops too come with a bit more risk as you not only have to prebuy lots of types of skate but keep stock of every type in every size.
Skate Park - Would probably end up as more of an aggressive skate park but I think there is a definite need/want for one in our area. Probably easy enough to get council backing and support, question may be more of if I want to work with lots of young kids!
Roller Rink - I think there could be a real demand for this. Initial outlay could be high but people are currently commuting from the south coast up to Derby for a good skate so there is attraction. I know the London crowd would love a proper rink although not sure we could get it close enough to London for them. Options could vary from freeskate sessions like the arena/winter sessions to roller disco's to roller hockey and even roller derby or speed training!
So what do you think? Good ideas? Bad ideas? Any other ideas I could do?
Just like Dragons Den, pitch your ideas!
In Vauxhall for the roller disco. Impressive setup. Now it's time to get my groove on - Twitter Status |
