Rockered wheels - 13:16 11 Mar 10 Hi All

I have just ordered a set of rockered wheels, bearings and spacers!

Does anyone have one of the tools that you need to put the bearings in the wheels that I can borrow?? And time and patience to shpw me how to do what I need to do???

I can certainly help you sort this Vix, although I'm not sure exactly what you have ordered. You can normally push the bearings out without the tool, however I do have the old Salomon universal skate tool which has a bearing puller. I also reckon you need a plate and small hammer to tap the new bearings firmly into the wheel.

I would have thought to achieve the conventional rocker on your skates, you would have needed just a 4mm smaller wheel at the front and rear of each of your frames, with bearings and spacers to make change over easier. Maybe you have gone for a complete set so you can keep them as a set just for slalom? This does however mean changing eight wheels over rather than four.

I had the joy of doing this for the first time on Saturday (think i'm finally convinced rockered is the way forward).

It seems most of my mountain biking tools translate fairly well to skate maintenance so if you need a hand I'd be happy to help out.

MCS I have got a whole new set so I have a flat set up for outside and from Retry and Dogsbodys advise a new set of bearings and spacers so I don't have to mess about each time.

Re:Rockered wheels - 23:11 11 Mar 10 Totally agree with the new bearings and spacers as changing them frequently is a pain. I had wondered if maybe you had found some sort of offset axle/bearing arrangement for them, similar to Mansfield's Salomon 3V SL frames.

Anyway as I think you know, I do have all the tools required if you want assistance and guidance.

Re:Rockered wheels - 12:24 12 Mar 10 Nice work! Having your wheels rockered really does make slalom easier.

It really is a good idea have a full separate set of wheels for rockered and keep your flat wheels for flat.

I once tried to save money by just replacing the front and rear wheels from my flat set with smaller wheels for rockered. That worked, but the problem was when I tried swap them back to go back the flat setup, the middle wheels had worn down too much so I couldn't get a flat setup anymore.

Now I always try to keep sets of wheels together, and not swap wheels between sets.

What type of wheels did you get in the end?
