Correct, wheelchairs, buggies, trikkes will be starting after 2pm.
It's not actually the numbers that worry us, it's the difference in speeds. The track is very wide and long and can happily support a lot more people if they are all at roughly the same speed. Our view is that it's when we have the very fast people and the very slow people together on the track that there is an issue. Especially at the start when the fast front of the race hits the slow back on the first 2 laps.
Nearly all the speed skaters will be finished by 1:30 and really slow newbies will have stopped or be taking rests so the track will be much more spread out. Looking at the finish line video from the 2 hour mark last year it should be fine to start the wheelchairs (who are actually faster than some skaters) although we always reserve the right to make calls on the day regarding the H&S. So much will depend on the day, it could be raining! :-p
