Re:London to Brighton - 19 June 2011 - 08:47 30 Nov 10 If it's after my last exam I'm gonna try and do this (emphasis on try) even if I have to do it with the end of my degree celebrations hangover.

Re:London to Brighton - 19 June 2011 - 21:34 26 May 11 Heads up, this is 3 weeks away!

After my first go at skating this last year I'm very, very keen to do this again!
Its rare you get the opportunity to skate all the way from the big smoke down to the coast with (mostly) motor-free roads. I won't lie: >54 miles of hills and mixed surfaces hurts, but the admiration from the cyclists, some lurrrvly downhills and a well-earned bag of chips on a pebbly sea front make it well worth it!

If you have the fitness, stamina, stuff, stupidity and a plan.... then piggy-backing the British Heart Foundation's organised bike ride comes highly recommended!

Personal Checklist:
- fitness: Intention to get fitter and improve on last year's performance? FAIL
- stamina (I'll get there I just won't be quick) CHECK
- stuff CHECK
- stupidity CHECK
- plan: no idea how i'll get to Clapham for 6a.m. Sunday morning... TBD!

Hmm thats most of it covered, worth a punt.

So who else is in?

Re:London to Brighton - 19 June 2011 - 22:28 26 May 11 ha ha haa... I'd love to do it, although I have stupidity in abundance, and stuff, I'm not sure I have the required fitness or stamina ..... even with my new fitness drive, I'm not sure I can improve enough in three weeks.

On the other hand... I could try and see how far I get

Thats what I like to hear!

I had hoped to sort out a training skate.
I'm probably alright for stamina myself what with doing skating commuting.

Any takers if I tried to sort out a route for a bit of practice?

If I told you that the beanie hat and comb were non-essential, and therefore leaving them out would lighten the load, would that sway you?

FYI jelly babies, however, are mandatory.

Re:London to Brighton - 19 June 2011 - 07:15 27 May 11 As with the Le Mans we are away for this skate so not going to be possible to attend, he'll be really p'd at me now for booking a holiday during such important skate events!

The skate is about 14 miles and is mostly back roads although there are a couple of fast roads too but with High-vis we'll be fine.

You should be able to get the train back to Camberley from Guildford (may want to check) so people can decide if they want to do one way or there and back.
