Re:Euroblade 2005 - 15:32 26 Sep 05 just got this:

As a registered participant for this year's event, I hope you managed to take part and enjoy Euroblade in Southampton yesterday.

It would be appreciated if you could let me know if you have any suggestions to improve the event and also I would be grateful if you could e-mail me any photographs which you may have taken that may be able to be used on future publicity.

At this stage, I am not sure if the event will take place in 2006 as P&O have withdrawn the Portsmouth > Le Havre ferry route but I will keep you posted.

Thanks again for supporting this event.

Best Wishes,

Craig Lintott

Re:Euroblade 2005 - 15:58 26 Sep 05 just checked and i have too.
well, i think we all know what we thought of the route, something constructive if we do a Cskate one, although individual comments are probably what their after. perhaps a little earlier in the month (less likely to rain!).

Re:Euroblade 2005 - 16:05 26 Sep 05 A cskate one would be great; that way we all won't write the same thing over and over and over again... and we can sign it from all who went.

Items:
Route
Speed - too slow
Spread-out ness of skate;
surfaces...
gumbies in plastic skates...
organisation whilst on the skate...
motorbikes...

Re:Euroblade 2005 - 16:11 26 Sep 05 oops

I sent this reply, just before I read this forum post....
---------
Hi Craig,

Yes I attended the event and it was great fun!

Good points:
- Very friendly
- Great 'start' venue (easy to find, ample parking, easy to skate from the car to the start)
- Well publicised
- Breakfast was great
- T Shirts were great

Improvements:
Not sure the motorbike was helpful; it can be of-putting having a bike trying to make its way through the skate beeping its horn. Especially when the conditions were "damp" this always means potential for accidents! Whoever was riding it didn't seem to understand where he should be in order to minimise his presence (i.e. he was always in the way or trying to get through the crowd) - I'm talking about the French bike with a photographer sitting on the back facing backwards.

The route was OK but in places there were narrow gaps which might seem fine if you are skating with 10 or 15 people but act as a real bottle neck if there are a few hundred people trying to get through. Also, the weather can't be helped but, park roads are always going to take longer to dry and are more likely to be covered in leaves and mud at this time of the year. It may be better to stay on the roads avoiding both the small park lanes and the bottlenecks.

Photos:
There will almost certainly be photos posted on the Camberley Skaters Website (www.cskate.co.uk) in the next couple of days - I didn't take any photos but I know some of the people I came with did!

Overall it was a great event and I really hope it is run again next year, it's great fun, gives us a chance to skate with like minded people from Le Havre and presents a good PR opportunity for the sport!

Thanks,

Andy

Re:Euroblade 2005 - 02:54 27 Sep 05 Nice pics!

Was the route different to last year then?? I really don't remember it being a problem last year

Looks like I missed a great skate though
Does anyone know of any Christmas Card recycling places near Camberley/Reading? I can't find any, should I put them in paper recycling? - Twitter Status
