BSB Speed Wash Review - 13:13 26 Sep 05 This thread discusses the Content article: BSB Speed Wash Review

Being a typical girlie - this appears very labour intensive and well just a bit fiddly - all those bits and bobs everywhere, I just know I'll loose something. And what's this about a tool to get the bearings out - OMG !!

So question is, is there another "easier", oh alright girl-friendly way of cleaning bearings?

Re:BSB Speed Wash Review - 13:36 26 Sep 05 For FSK owners here. Do NOT rip open your bearings and bung them in the cleaner. Yes, Tim's are now running very fast with his speed oil, but FSK bearings are greased. This means that they will basically keep going for ages. Wipe off the surface muck then bung them back in. If you REALLY want to clean them out completely, then be prepared for a load of gunk to come out of them.

Also, I'd recommend putting grease back in them - it's just less hassle than using oil and for the sort of skating we tend to do in FSKs, there's no advantage really behind using an oil instead...

Re:BSB Speed Wash Review - 14:32 26 Sep 05 Well I managed so completely freeze 3 out of 16 FSK bearings so I'm not sure how good the 'grease' is.

My approach to bearing maintenance is very much in-line (pun intended) with Drakey - buy new ones

Since girls seem to have a genetically enhanced 'buying' gene, that should work for you Red if you are looking for a 'girl friendly' solution.

Apparantly, gadgetboy on SR is selling bearings, abec 9s for £25 which seems quite good value to me. So it might be worth PM'ing him.
Any married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing
