What Quads to buy? - 16:43 02 Dec 05 Folks,

A friend of mine at work wants to buy his girlfriend some quads for her birthday. She doesn't skate but wants some 'retro' skates, I am guessing that she means quads. I think she will mainly use them for roller-disco and or nice smooth surfaces either indoors our in parks.

I don't think he wants to spend more than about £100

Can anyone give me some advice to pass on, specifically I'm looking for:

Recomendations for quads that look a bit reto
- what to look for
- what to avoid
- specific make/model
Anywhere in or near Reading that he can go and buy them

Re:What Quads to buy? - 17:26 02 Dec 05 Kate's Skates has a great selection of retro-looking quads. I have the SFR (Stateside/Anarchy) Raptors and my friend Jacky has the suede Classic Rollers by them. I'm quite happy with mine but as you'll probably remember, the Raptor boots look huge! The Rio Disco Rollers look fun and might be closer to what she's after. Bauers are great but they start at £100. Cheaper skates = more money for protective gear for the beginner. Better skates = fabulous if you've got extra money for pads/guards.

Proline has a wide range of quads, as does Route One.

Re:What Quads to buy? - 12:52 07 Dec 05 goto www.demonxtreme.com they have the largest range of retro quads online in the UK.

most of the retros are very old school which means they don't have great ankle support - blazers are the ones we all used to wear but the stateside retro have better ankle support. Sadly technology hasn't moved on much in quads opposed to inlines. The classics are great value for money and ankle support but I wouldn't class them as retro.

have fun
