Re:Berlin Marathon - 11:57 28 Sep 05 Yes, well done Ruff. Sorry to hear about the falls etc but at least you're OK. I guess if you're doing the speeds you do any fall will be nasty.

Point noted about helmets.

Get well soon

Re:Berlin Marathon - 12:01 28 Sep 05 You'll find when racing everyone is wearing cycle helmets.

Hans had a Met one I think, so yes, Tim, it's a cycle helmet...

Re:Berlin Marathon - 12:25 28 Sep 05 Don't be daft.

I'll show you mine - it was only 30 quid. Just get a normal cycle helmet from halfords...

Look at LSST - event - Berlin - p 19...

You'll see some guys in skins at the bottom - just get something like they're wearing..

Or I'll point out something on teh skate this evening..

Re:Berlin Marathon - 12:37 28 Sep 05 Hi Ruff,
well done with the times, despite two falls that's damn fast mate!
hope you heal quickly, concussion can be a nasty thing.

the bit about helmets i agree with, as much as they're nasty to wear!

Re:Berlin Marathon - 12:59 28 Sep 05 Glad to hear you're OK Ruff, well done on the time.. that time probably gives a good indication of why you broke your helmet when you fell - thank god you were wearing one!

I wear one on the streets 'cos you're likely to be going a bit faster and there are horrid kerbs around. I've always come down on the 'wear one' side of the argument even though they are a bit un-comfortable. I remember Peter C had a close call last year, without his helmet he'd have been a lot worse!

You could either put it in a very low ponytail on the nape of your neck or centre-part it and wear it in low plaits. I used to get the same problem with my cycling helmet. Alternatively, you could just shave it all off. I'm sure you have a lovely-shaped skull.

Ruff, thank God your helmet did just what it was supposed to and shattered. It was still a great time you made, especially with the falls adding to it. At least you'll be around to do it again next year.
Je suis belle et ça ne demande aucun effort
