Re:Eastbourne travel - 21:02 11 Jul 12
It was a lot longer journey from Camberley though I reckon it should be easier to get to - I presume the A27 is fairly free-flowing?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to it as the start to a skating weekend, and hopefully conditions will be good for the free roller disco at the Redoubt Fortress on Sat
In case ppl haven't heard of GYSO Shoreham . . . roller disco, skate lessons, roller derby and other events take place in an old royal mail depot.
The internal space is very large and has a certain industrial feel to it. There are different areas for skating including slalom, and pipes and ramps for the more adventurous/foolhardy. Additional facilities include seating areas, "cafe" and toilets, together with parking adjacent to the building.
The last time we visited we found the other skaters very friendly and welcoming with an enjoyable atmosphere and fun vibe to the session.
The floor quality and size was excellent and there was a good mix of quads and inlines and some very good skaters doing their thing and generally messing around
I believe this site is fighting to stay open against the wails of the nimbys, so if you are in the vicinity and have the opportunity to join in a session, you should check it out.
There is a website, but IMO it qualifies as possibly one of the worst and most frustrating examples on the planet (at least on my machine) . . . http://www.gysodisco.co.uk/#!__roller-central
